The true hero among them must be the most honest and pure one. Although due to differences in the understanding of gender morality between Europe and the United States, the specific expression of the word "purity" is also different. The male lead in American films is usually a pure and handsome guy (even a virgin); and in this film, Chris is the only man of the five who borrows the attic to spend the night with a woman out of true love. In contrast, his four best friends have more or less moral flaws, and at the same time have their own distinct character characteristics: Vincent's shrewdness, Luc's cowardice, Filip's brutality, Marnix's stupidity... typical Hollywood traditional type The film's character creation.
In terms of narrative structure, the film is also very Hollywood. At the end, the unexpected content recorded by the hidden camera is exposed, and Vincent's bold speculation about the case during the police interrogation brings the film to its climax! But just when the audience empathized with the "tragic" encounter of the four friends has basically agreed that the truth of the case has come to light, the story has taken a turn: Chris found flaws in the key evidence of the "suicide note", and deduced that. The real culprit was someone else, and then fought to the death with this person on the rooftop before the police arrived... What movie do you think of when you see this? "Dead End"!
Of course, the imitation of Hollywood does not prevent us from basically agreeing that this is a fairly wonderful European commercial film. Although, the handling of certain aspects is still debatable.
1. While sharing the attic with all your close friends, you still have to "cuck" them here? Unless there is some kind of deep hatred for friends rather than revenge in such a perverted way, it is really incomprehensible why this person chooses such a risky way of cheating. In other words, I think the choreography of the plot at this juncture is a bit blunt.
2. The bloody crime scene, the blood book hidden behind the pillow, and the cold tone of the film... This means that the real murderer is misleading the police and friends, and even the director is misleading the audience. But the question is, is it necessary to present a crime that is only triggered by ordinary affairs with an atmosphere similar to the religious serial killer of "Seven Deadly Sins"?
