Review Monsters vs. Aliens

I felt very uncomfortable after watching this movie, not because of the collision of values, but because the movie seriously deviated from my expectations.
To put it simply, the film doesn't even bother to use the most common tricks of revealing courage and determination to cheer up the audience.
Of course, if you don't care about that, get creative. But, aside from some new surprises about the American president in the film, there's basically nothing special about the film to reminisce about.
The most ridiculous thing is that those monsters who were kept in single cells as monsters and guaranteed that they would never see the light of day, when the earth encountered a crisis, they all shared the same hatred with the human beings who had abused them. There is no struggle or conflict at all. This is simply a violation of the American mentality that Hollywood has always believed in. How can it be at the mercy of others so quickly.
The scene where the heroine goes to meet her parents and boyfriend is the biggest flaw in the film in my opinion. This seems to be the basis for the heroine to choose to become a giant in the future, but this is as incomprehensible as a human who does not want to conquer the world and has no ambition to become a giant.
I kind of suspect that the movie was made with money from military contractors. The purpose is to rectify the names of their mercenaries who specialize in solving the intractable diseases that the government is difficult to face and the regular army is difficult to handle. In the past, movies and TV often portrayed them as monster-like human beings, which is completely irresponsible slander. Of course, those charisma who are unknown, accustomed to loneliness, and willing to bear infamy will sooner or later be written into songs, but wouldn't it be better to have a movie that leads to understanding. Thinking about it from this angle, the movie suddenly got through.

Monsters vs. Aliens quotes

  • Derek Dietl: Wow, you really are big.

Susan Murphy: Yeah, but I'm still me. I'm still the same girl you fell in love with.

Derek Dietl: Except you did just destroy the Golden Gate Bridge.

Susan Murphy: Well, but that was the only way I was gonna stop that giant robot. Did you ever think I could do something like that?

Derek Dietl: No, I didn't. I can honestly say that it never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever occurred to me.

  • Susan Murphy: Look, I-I know this is a little weird. Okay - it's a lot weird. But we'll figure it out. I know that together, we can find a way to get me back to normal.

Derek Dietl: Susan, try and look at this from my perspective. I have an audience that depends on me for news, weather, sports and heart-warming fluff pieces. So you expect me to put all that on hold while you try to undo this thing that happened to you, that I had absolutely nothing to do with?

Susan Murphy: Yes. That's exactly what I expect. What-what about the life that we always talked about? Don't you still want that?

Derek Dietl: Of course. I just... don't see how I can have that with you.

Susan Murphy: [on the verge of tears] Derek, please. Don't do this.

Derek Dietl: Oh, y-you have to faced facts, Susan. And don't crush me for saying this, but I'm not looking to get married and spend the rest of my life in someone else's shadow. And you're casting a pretty big shadow. I'm sorry. It's over. Good luck, Susan.
