It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that moved me so much, a little lawn mower and a seven-week journey, and if it weren't for a heavier life, this might just be an unremarkable American road movie. What impresses me is the life of Alvin spread all the way, which is rich and heavy.
I share three stories and three sentences from Alvin's life.
Three stories, about brothers, about children, and about friends.
Alvin, 73 years old, handicapped and dazzled, drives a lawnmower from Iowa to Wisconsin to meet his brother who has had a stroke, 10 years before they have been isolated for reasons long erased by time year. This is the first story.
Alvin was a front-line sniper in World War II. When he was ambushing on the front line, Alvin sniped a figure wandering in the woods. The next day, the comrades found that the intelligence officer in the company, Kotx, who was also Alvin's friend, was shot in the head and died in the woods. Everyone thought that it was the Germans. Only Alvin knew it wasn't. This is the second story.
Alvin's daughter has a mild mental retardation. She has four children. Once she entrusted the children to someone else's care, the house caught fire and her second son suffered serious burns. The state government believed that she was unable to support the children, so they were forcibly taken away. This is the third story.
Three sentences, excerpted from

Alvin straight: A brother's a brother.

"If Lynch’s early works were trapped in a trap, then the story of Stritt is based on the real incident of a lame old farmer named Alvin Stritt driving a lawnmower across the plains of the United States to visit his brother. What is the changed movie saying? Does this slow-paced story suggest a self-denial of aggression and turn to the honesty of loyalty to the moral stand? The title is undoubtedly a reference to the previous film: a story of integrity is a reference to the eraser Head to the monster night's panic "departure". But! What if Lynch’s upright male protagonist is actually more subversive than the grotesque characters in the previous film? If in our postmodern world, stick to moral commitment will be seen In an unreasonable and outdated era, isn’t Streite truly an alien?”...Zizek’s interpretation certainly provides a dramatic perspective, but returning to the reality of the film, you really feel that Streite’s relatives are on the way. Are the people of all colors an outlier? The girl who left home was moved by the fable. The middle-aged man proposed to drive him away and talk about life with the young people in the team. The bar recalled the old man's secrets of World War II... The warm understanding of sentimentality and other main melody characteristics obviously overwhelm the subversion and the alien.
