"Fall in love with this home (Secondhand Lion)"
date: November 30, 2003

If second-hand jeans are successfully sold, it represents the re-establishment of their existence. The same is true for people, as long as they find another meaning in life, just like rebirth, they can choose again when they are old.

The film asks questions about doom, destiny, transformation and choice. There are two homes in the movie: one is the home where the two old male protagonists depend on each other like friends, they take care of each other and live together; the other is the home of the young male protagonist. And the little protagonist just fell in love with the homes of two elderly people, and made a decision to reverse their fate, and at the same time changed the lives of the two old protagonists in the future.

The film tells the story of the little male protagonist who was arranged by his mother to live with his uncle. There are two old and one young, and it is indispensable for the elderly to tell the children about their feelings in the past, and there are many stories in the prime of life with both sound and picture. The two stories now feel evenly divided, which reinforces the importance of the little protagonist's presence, as he is a turning point in the film, especially after he decides to live with the two elders.

When the two old people were in their prime, they had vigor and direction, but when they were old, their life was dull and the meaning of life was unclear. The fate of the three turned around at the same time. They originally thought that they were the old protagonist who was destined to be with the forest by the lion, but they also established the rest of their life goals, which is to take good care of the young protagonist until the university. And the little protagonist is to make choices for his own life, choose a suitable home, and decide the future. The lion who regained his health chose to return to nature, because it was destined to belong to nature.

The doomed destiny can be changed by choice; of course, the so-called change may also be the doomed life trajectory. In any case, there is always a turning point in life, and the establishment of goals can be regarded as regeneration; nonproductive life is psychologically flawed, that is, normal life needs goals to maintain.

The structure of the film is simple. A decision affects the lives of three people, similar to the plot in "Pay it Forward", which affects the people around them.

    Stan: What?

  • Walter: What's wrong with him?

Garth: Well, a man's body may grow old, but inside his spirit can still be as young and as restless as ever.
