Who is Bob Dylan?

If I hadn't had a general understanding of the structure of the story and Bob Dylan himself before watching the film, I would have gotten lost in these two-plus hours of film.

This is a creative biopic, played by six completely different characters, played by six completely different actors, the story smashes the chronological order, and uses six seemingly incoherent stories, sometimes black and white and sometimes color images. Continuously interspersed, imitation character interviews and old and realistic live performance pictures alternately appear, and Bob Dylan is cut into pieces through each character, which seems to echo the image of lying on the operating table waiting for dissection at the beginning. The transformation of his musical style, his thoughts, his beliefs, his emotions, are constantly displayed in front of the audience through the performances of different actors.

The amount of information contained in this film is also very rich. I think if you don’t know Bob Dylan very well, or people who don’t know the current state of American society in the 1960s, I am afraid that you will be able to watch the film. Missing and ignoring a lot of information. Therefore, in my eyes, this film is not so much a biographical film with a special structure, it is better to say that Bob Dylan has become a cultural symbol and a spiritual symbol. Instead, it reflects his dedication and persistence to the music itself.

The most impressive of the six stories is Cate Blanchett's cross-play, a thin body with short curly hair, some nervous hand movements, and curled legs when smoking, turning a rather selfish person. There is no doubt that rock musicians are shown. Therefore, many people say that the image she plays is closest to Dylan himself, and Cate Blanchett's meaningful eyes in the car at the end of the film may show the actor's sly side as a woman, difficult to forget.

The deceased Heath Ledger also played another side of Dylan, showing Dylan's emotional world, his acquaintance, love and separation with his wife. From this passage, you can feel his love for his wife, But also due to their own personality reasons, the separation of the two is no longer inevitable.

All in all, although the director uses a lot of film techniques throughout, it may be difficult to understand at first glance, but if you can read it carefully, you should still be able to understand the meaning.

6 people play different aspects of Dylan, but since I don't know him well, it's a little boring. The black and white influence of the Blanchett part feels very MTV, which I love, and there's Heath Ledger's Dylan who has a family life, and his wife seems to be the heroine of Science Sleep, and his mom is Jane Birkin, dad is Gainsbourg, my favorite tune.

It's a genius idea to use different actors to interpret different experiences and aspects of a person's life, separate and shape them individually. Personally, I like the part of the child the most; the part of this teacher is too small, but listening to his lines is a pleasure, not to mention the afro-head musicians are good-looking and brilliant; Blanchett is really amazing; I am not a Dylan fan, but Enjoyed the drama so much, exploring a character from a distance to make the legend even more legendary is a break from the honesty of the biopic.
