The first time I saw this film was at the midnight show on Phoenix TV. I believe that many mainland audiences are like me. I am a person who is very easily infected by the plot. The number of tears watching this film should be second only to Tokyo Love Story. Especially when my father was whipped to death by Nazi officers. I deeply feel the deepest helplessness and grief of human nature. But we wouldn't love it so much if it was a purely gloomy and bleak film. The last motto feels so natural to you. Let pride be as deeply impressed by it as I am. Unlike some Hong Kong dramas that are somewhat far-fetched and difficult to swallow, this passage is so touching, quietly telling the true meaning of life. Yes, only breathing equally and freely in this world is our most beautiful sunshine nectar.
The male protagonist is a typical European style, the kind of person who belongs to the delicious, um, a bit like Jude Law. Possibly more artistic. The occupation in the film makes him naturally feel like a handsome boy. Lawyer, fencing champion, young officer (not in war yet). He naturally has such a temperament that makes you believe that he is excellent.
One of the heroines is Rachel Weisz, who didn't know her name when I watched it. Acting very naturally. But none of the protagonists impressed me.
