In the same plot, the South Africans made "Tsotsi" and won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, and Jackie Chan made a Chengshi comedy. Although it didn't win any awards, the audience was obviously more accepting of the latter. From this point of view, Jackie Chan clearly understands the true meaning of entertaining. After experiencing the vicissitudes of life and seeing the warmth and coldness of the world, Jackie Chan is no longer satisfied with making a commercial comedy action film, but tries to express some of his own thoughts in the film. Although this film also pursues the box office, the appearance of BB undoubtedly dilutes a lot of commercial flavor. In the film, Jackie Chan tries to tell people how precious love and kinship are. The grudges between him and his father seem to be repenting to his father; the scene where he saves BB by electric shock is really touching and makes people laugh and cry without knowing it. Crying and laughing, these are not seen in previous Chengshi movies. Jackie Chan is like a father, a good teacher, and a good friend. He tells us some things that are very common but we tend to ignore in the slapstick, laughing and scolding.
From "Plan A" to "Plan B" to "Plan BB", Jackie Chan's films have accompanied us for nearly 20 years. Who can ask, if Jackie Chan is old, can he still fight?
