Beautiful Love

A beautiful romantic drama and family trouble drama. A person who can't be a mother eventually becomes a good mother, a mother who makes her son proud. She may not understand homosexuality, but she understands her son, and mother's love allows her to tolerate his son. I think she does a better job than other parents who find their child is gay and lose their child forever.
Reminds me of what the handsome lover said to his lover's father in "Gays and Mortals" - "Let him continue to stay in this house and ask him to deny himself, this is not love, it is hate", a great line. Yes, no one wants to be teased by God, but when God really got the gender string wrong, please continue to love them and don't abandon them.
The boy in the play is lucky. Although his divorced mother raised him hard and did not get a rich life, he received the most extensive love. How proud and happy he must have been when his mother danced with them in the square, scanning the crowd with a fearless attitude.
It's a bit like the Taiwanese drama "wormwood", but the Chinese express it more implicitly. Mom's compromise is not so public and external, but it is equally warm.

Beautiful things need brave mothers. I love the British working class! "I will never have a grandson again." "I was by his side when my friend beat him; I was by his side when people were talking about him; I only had three cents in my wallet, and the refrigerator was empty. At that time, I went to robbery for that child!" Pain is irrespective of gender. But, is this film preaching that the cute little gay has a good reason to break the helpless straight man down?

Jamie's mom is really good at acting. Every time I see such parents who are particularly tolerant of their sons coming out of the closet, I feel that it is really not easy. They may endure more than gays themselves. ps: Mom's boyfriend Tony has love.

  • Jamie: Scared of being called "queer"?

    Ste: Are you?

    Jamie: Maybe... maybe not.

    Ste: And are ya?

    Jamie: Queer?

    Ste: Gay.

Jamie: Very happy. I'm happy when I'm with you...

  • Sandra: What happened? School burned down, did it?

    Jamie: Yeah.

Sandra: What was it this time? IRA bomb?

    Jamie: Fundamentalist Muslim pyromaniacs.

Sandra: Oh, funny, that. Looked all right when I walked past it.
