Reminds me of what the handsome lover said to his lover's father in "Gays and Mortals" - "Let him continue to stay in this house and ask him to deny himself, this is not love, it is hate", a great line. Yes, no one wants to be teased by God, but when God really got the gender string wrong, please continue to love them and don't abandon them.
The boy in the play is lucky. Although his divorced mother raised him hard and did not get a rich life, he received the most extensive love. How proud and happy he must have been when his mother danced with them in the square, scanning the crowd with a fearless attitude.
It's a bit like the Taiwanese drama "wormwood", but the Chinese express it more implicitly. Mom's compromise is not so public and external, but it is equally warm.
