death brings people together

Believe it or not, no matter how broken a family is, death, or rather the fear of death, can bring family members back together when they appear.
It's Ang Lee again, and it's a discussion of sexuality. In the context of the American sexual liberation movement, everything seems so weird and twisted. The intricate relationship between the two families makes people dizzy. The primary temptation of adolescent children seems to be an interpretation of the relationship between parents: sex has nothing to do with responsibility and love, it is just human instinct. To summon back the social attributes of people, it needs a very powerful event, so that people can return to the origin of the family after going around in a circle, and they are not sure when they will run out again. People, that's it.
Just like Ang Lee's style, the film's rhythm is slow, and coupled with the intricate twisted relationships, it's a bit tiring to watch. As Ang Lee's second English film, it is not as good as the last "Sense and Sensibility", but it is not easy to see that Ang Lee was insisting on and developing his own style at that time.
There are many big and small stars in the film, and almost all the main actors are familiar faces. At that time, Spider-Man, Fredo, and the current Mrs. Tom all had the faces of children. Now, it seems that they are not very interesting.
I don't know how those tree hangings in the film are made, the terrifying ice storm can be so beautiful...

Personally, I feel that the plot is actually quite good, and the acting skills of the actors are also good.

Like the kind of wine that didn't go up at the time and had a lot of stamina. Connecticut in 1973 was a vast and powerful vortex of space and time that buried the whole truth about the marriage of some of us.

The Ice Storm quotes

  • Paul Hood: Your family is the void you emerge from, and the place you return to when you die. And that's the paradox: The closer you're drawn back in, the deeper into the void you go.

  • Janey Carver: [caught his youngest son Sandy playing with explosives] Sandy! You idiotic little dope! You could blow yourself fucking sky high with this demented crap!
