I think a multi-line story is that it is well told and deeply touching, but if it is a little too far or not in time, it will give people the feeling of piecing together abruptly. It's a good story from the beginning to the end, but I always feel that Eddie's part is a bit abrupt. On the night that Jessica and Eddie made out, both grandfather and child died, and people had to think that Eddie was a god of death (he was originally a mortuary, half a god of death).
