The plot of the movie is faithful to the original, and the abridged or changed places are 100% for the need to compress the length of the story to the length of the theater screening, and it is not true. The main reason is that the original spirit of the original work has been lost, and it can only be regarded as a retelling of the original novel with images.
There is no way, it is really difficult to tell such a story in two hours. I can only rush through the plot like a running account. Such a rush-like narrative technique has caused the actors' performance space to be severely compressed. The characters have not been shaped at all, and none of the characters can shine with the light in the original book, which is a pity.
But then again, the brushstrokes of the original work are meticulous and dense, showing the relationship between each character is subtle and complex, and every psychological state is delicate and profound. It is indeed very difficult to express such emotional lines through images. It's easy, and it's not too harsh to be able to shoot at this level.
All in all, such a film adaptation lacks bright spots, but it is not a big deal.
