At least three clues can be sorted out in the film:
Italy - Tuscany - Contradictory Humanity in
War World War II - Black Soldiers - Racial Discrimination
Catholicism - Faith - Redemption
Each clue is enough to support the torso of a movie, but Li is successful Stuff them into a torso! Although the technique is not very clever camera processing and the plot is far from perfect; although the point of view is out of focus, neither clue is fully displayed.
From a purely cinematic point of view, this is not going to be a success by any means.
