why this is a good movie

Why is this a good movie?
Serial killers can be said to be the most unpopular subject matter. In the face of the destruction of many lives, the audience has a calm quality that is not inferior to that of killers. Isn't that how many people died? What's more, it's not bloody enough. The flesh and blood like the Human Skin Inn seems to be able to slightly stir the heavy nerves of the audience, but it is fleeting and does not leave any impression. Mr. Brooks is an old-fashioned subject, and the scenes are not bloody. Is there a film with too many restricted-level shots, why is it a good film? I think just because of one word, "humanity in the struggle".
A friend above wrote a great comment saying "Everyone has a Marshell in their heart", and I agree. Dark side doesn't just exist in movies and Stephen King's novels, it lurks in the darkest corners of the human heart. When the subject's consciousness is in a trance, it will take the opportunity to come out. This is why the world's most famous serial killers are generally well-known psychopaths. But Mr. Brooks goes beyond this level of subconscious control of the plot and reaches a new height, that is, the competition between the id and the superego.
In the film, Mr. Brooks is undoubtedly successful, holds a high position, loves charity, and believes in God. It can be said to be the elite of the society, the salt of the earth. In fact, it is not difficult to become such a person, as long as you strictly abide by the rules and regulations and suppress desires that are not accepted by the mainstream of society. But Brooks was not so lucky. On the one hand, he prayed to maintain his superego's sanity, and on the other hand, he was also seduced by the id. The prayer at the beginning of the film is a good interpretation, and we can even feel the trembling heart of his struggling struggle. Tragedy is to destroy people's fate for others to see. I want to say that sometimes there is no need to destroy, which is also a tragedy. Mr. Brooks is still alive, but who can deny that he is already in hell? Isn't fighting day after day the greatest punishment?

Mr. Brooks quotes

  • Mr. Earl Brooks: Finding someone you think would be fun to kill is a bit like, well it's a bit like falling in love. You meet a lot of candidates, and you like some of them, and they're nice. But they're not right. And that special one comes along, and your heart beats faster, and you know that's the one.

  • Marshall: She did it, didn't she?

Mr. Earl Brooks: Yeah. It'll take the cops a week to ten days to put their case together, and then... and then they will come back and arrest her.

Marshall: What are you going to do?

[Earl breaks down and cries, while Marshall hugs him]

Mr. Earl Brooks: Oh, God. Oh, God. I was afraid of this since before she was born. She has... she has what I have.

Marshall: Yes, she does. But you were always smart about it. She was stupid. She did it because she got off - okay, I understand. She's in it for fun - okay, I understand. But why didn't she think it through? A hatchet? And she left it there.
