Frank used to be an FBI agent, representing the justice of the bureaucracy. But when his wife and children died unexpectedly, he became an underground judge outside the traditional sanctions system, a justice messenger who evolved from revenge to punishment. Using ruthless means to fight against all illegal forces, without the constraints of law and identity, this job is done by him, and he is very handy. There are too many bloody scenes in the film, and they are cruel. After a hail of bullets, almost every bad guy is not complete, missing his head, missing arms and legs, missing eyes, and so on. Different from Woo Yusen's violent aesthetics, this film is full of violence only. As for beauty, let's leave it to those handsome young boys who are fair and pink.
After watching this movie, I first had an idea. For someone like Frank, what kind of meaning does his existence have?
In fact, in the film, you can see how helpless and incompetent a bureaucratic justice is. When the FBI agent handed Michael's intelligence to Billy, how helpless it was. Because if they didn't make this deal with Billy, more people would be at risk, which forced them to release Billy and his perverted brother even after they killed two cops . We cannot say that bureaucratic justice is not justice, but it is precisely because of its official attributes that it has been separated from the category of pure justice and has become a very morbid justice. That's why, before the final battle, Frank was able to convince Budianski, who had been chasing him. Because he also understands that just relying on the words of the police and the FBI is far from completely eradicating crime. Because for those immoral criminals, the best way to eradicate them is to completely disappear from this world.
I thought of four words: use violence to control violence.
Violence has always been a behavior that people despise. It is considered the most primitive and most uncontrolled behavior of human nature. In particular, we Easterners have been emphasizing the need to "conquer people with virtue" since ancient times, believing that violence is never the solution to problems.
But the reality of today's society is that those who have done bad things have no morals to speak of. If they really have a little bit of so-called morality in their hearts, would they still do those illegal things?
Like a hot topic that has been discussed recently: personal information security. Those mercenary businesses and individuals arbitrarily sell other people's information for a walk, and finally cause a lot of losses. I think the word morality cannot be found in the dictionaries of those people. And how many of those bad businessmen who have been exposed can use the line of morality to restrain them?
no!
These people who are free from the gap of the law and have no morality to speak of, who or what will punish them for doing bad things? Maybe our society really needs people like Frank. Ruthless, persevering, jealous of evil, use the most thunderous means to deal with those unrighteous people, and use violence to maintain justice.
We all want the people around us to be modest and gentlemen, but I think that the era of not picking up things on the road will never come back. At this moment, I really hope that there can be a punisher, living in this city, bloody, punishing sins!
