Hopelessly bad

From concept to various aspects of production value, this movie was born to be silly and mediocre. Some see a "Pulp Fiction" wannabe in it, although this imitation has none of the easy grace and hangdog humor of the original, being ponderous, ridiculous and cheaply sentimental at the same time. I think the "Pulp Fiction" association probably overestimates the creators' attention span: no, I don't think JieHo Lee ever wishes to get even close to Tarantino's one-shot greatness; instead, our young , untalented and opportunistic friend here is merely shooting for an unjustified overnight success like---"Crash". I am sure Mr. Lee can identify with THAT; I can even hear his inept, juvenile mind ticking, like: "Sure I can do that, too!" And as a result,a handful of competent actors and actresses got to look and sound absurd for a while, just because JieHo manages to convince some dumb-ass studio executive to give him a shot.

That's how we end up with this implausible, pretty, poorly-acted, and worse-than-incompetently directed movie, to contaminate intelligent viewers' consciousness worldwide for some 90+ minutes. STUPID.

  • Pleasure: Is there something the matter?

Happiness: No. You're track record is perfect. And, with your stock market lock, we could... you could... maybe you should invest more.

Pleasure: I wasn't talking about me.

  • Happiness: So where does change come from? And how do we recognize it when it happens?
