The pinnacle of spirit!

The desire to live! A masterpiece about life and human nature, in this film, Akira Kurosawa reached the peak of his spiritual world. The spiritual definition of life and death, the strong irony of the government, the in-depth analysis of human nature, and the thorough reflection on life are all so deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Personally, I think this film has reached the peak of Akira Kurosawa's films. I am fortunate to see such a classic that shakes the soul. Shimura Joe's performance deserves to be evaluated as highly as Mifune. Cooperation, until the end of working together, the only film that did not participate. Even today, more than 50 years later, this film still shines with indelible light, always shining on the faces of you and my innermost heart.

Ikiru quotes

  • Toyo: I'll cover for you. I'm not like Carp Windsock.

    Kanji: Carp Windsock?

Toyo: Yes, Mr. Sakai is a human carp windsock. His lips are always flapping, but he's just hot air inside. Plus he always acts like such a big shot. He makes 200 yen more a month than I do, so he looks down on me.

  • Kanji: Tell me, where do they sell women's stockings?

Toyo: You want to buy some? Western clothing stores carry them.
