It seems very difficult to introduce new ones among these many works. However, "Lost in Austin" is definitely an exception. This film has turned the world upside down with its adaptation, and the effect is jaw-dropping.
It seems that ITV has not been satisfied with the three TV movies that were adapted from Jane Austen's works in 2007. They believe that they can go further, so in 2008, they brought together handsome men and women, and shot 4 episodes of 180. The minute-long "Lost in Austin" finally marked the kind of self-travelling fanatic that I thought I could only see on the Internet as an official product.
The writers and directors of "Lost in Austin" dismantled the story of "Pride and Prejudice" to pieces, subverted the characters in the show into black and white, and the whole story is filled with vows to wait for me Austin fans are shattered by the belief in victory.
Congrats to them, they made it - I was totally blown away! ! !
The reason for the story is very simple. A Miss Amanda living in London is obsessed with Austen's "Pride and Prejudice", so one day Elizabeth crossed out of her bathroom, and she also traveled back to 200 years. The former Bennett home. And so, the nightmare began.
The heroine looks like she wants to be a matchmaker for the characters in the show, but it turns out to be counterproductive and sabotage everywhere - Jane is married to Collins, Bingley is the one who kidnapped Lydia, and Wickham is a good friend who has been wronged. People, Charlotte resolutely went to Africa, and Elizabeth became a modern new woman who was relieved to be a nanny in London... Of course, the most important thing is that our dear heroine has gone through hardships, successfully grabbed a seat, and became Darcy's sweetheart . The story of Pride and Prejudice has finally been completely reinvented into a farce!
As soon as this heroine appeared, I felt familiar, and then I remembered that I had seen it in another British miniseries, and the style was the same, chubby and silly, and I didn't like it. But I think she is really a qualified spokesperson for Marysue. Despite her mediocre appearance, confused personality, and clumsy behavior, she is like a charming heartthrob. Darcy, Bingley, Collins, Wickham and many other men have fallen in love. Under her pomegranate skirt, Caroline turned into Lesbian to show her affection, in order to prove that her charm is too great for both men and women.
Such a standard Marysue-style introduction, if it exists in the mind of a young and ignorant girl, I think it is still understandable. In retrospect, I can also say that I was "silly and naive" back then; On the swaggering market, it really makes people vomit blood. When it comes to the end, the heroine who gets cheap and sells well seems to think that the ending of the "Happy Reunion" is not tasteful enough, and she even deliberately creates a self-motivation to live out the true self to round up the scene - who are you trying to deceive? !
The actor who plays Darcy looks a lot like Heath Ledger, but is ugly Heath Ledger >_< Always imitating Colin Firth's frowning, sullen face, but no home at all kind of demeanor. Well, it's wrong to judge people by their appearance, but is it justified to tamper with people? ! This Mr. Darcy is arbitrary, selfish, arrogant, he has done nothing good, and a lot of bad things, and I can't see anything good in him from beginning to end, making him enough to be the dream lover of all British women. If he hadn't been forced into Darcy's name, I'd be happy to see his marriage to the heroine come to fruition and applaud.
There are all kinds of heinous acts in this film, and so on. To be honest, I couldn’t watch it until I saw it halfway through, and the only thought that kept me going was “I’d like to see how you can spoil it”—I seem to be really masochistic (silent) .
Of course, some viewers may find it funny looking at such subversive plots and characters; some may think that it expresses the true ultimate dream of Austen fans (although in my opinion it is more like the ultimate nightmare) ;Maybe why this film will be regarded as a deconstruction classic in the future, I don't know...
But to me, the only meaning of this film is--
It is indeed a lively and eloquent textbook that explains and demonstrates in detail "what is self-YY", "how to go through the journey to the end", "how to be a successful Marysue" and other topics.
