Breathless

After watching "Counterfeit Maker" late at night, I was heartbroken. The deepest tragedy brought tears to my eyes.

I admire the male protagonist in the film. He hides a heart of compassion under his tough and silent appearance. More importantly, he knows how to achieve compassion through realistic means.

In the face of a real crisis, perhaps only the realists are the real heroes. How many "idealists" who shouted and sang in history eventually became slaves of power. In fact, these people, like Borg in the film, look forward to a heroic and passionate life. In fact, what they care about is not the realization of truth or human ideals, but the realization of their ideals in life.

So I thought, who would I be if I were there then and there? There's a good chance that I'll be a Borg, or some other common man who fears death.

The most moving scene in the film is when the male protagonist and Kachia (can't remember the name) discuss painting on the transfer train. The small carriage was reeking, and they made do with muddy soup and hard bread, and they discussed art. Kachia, who was beaten with bloodshot eyes, did not forget his beloved Kandinsky! This is the brilliance of human nature, without the slightest pretence.

But seeing the expressions on their faces as they stroked the white sheets, I thought that soup and bread must have been hearty dishes for them. The hands, full of wrinkles, pimples and wounds, glide gently on the white sheets, making people extremely poignant.

In fact, these histories are not far away from us, but things that happened decades ago, not comparable to most people's lifetimes. Only by being vigilant about the centralized system that constantly changes its clothes can we prevent us from being manipulated by certain "ideals".

Thank you, Kafka Lu, it was your last review that recommended this good movie to me, I hope you live well in another world.
