Just watching Chen Kaige filming "The Promise" and Zhang Yimou's "House of Flying Daggers" were not as shocking to me as this "Blueberry Night". Director Wang Da, no matter how much you want to look at everyone, you don't need to lower your level to the average. First of all, this plot is so bad that any third-rate TV drama director can write it. The role is not too challenging, and it can be done by picking a few second- and third-tier actors. Secondly, the actors collectively played at a low level, Norah Jones sang well but her acting was mediocre, Jude Law and Natalie Portman seemed to be finishing their final homework, and only Rachel Weisz was worth seeing. I don't know if it's because the tone of English is different from that of Cantonese, or because many Americans don't express their feelings directly. It's obviously a similar light and shadow, and similar characters, but "Blueberry Night" seems to be much warmer than other Wong Kar Wai movies. It was as if everyone was A Fei who came back a year later in "Chongqing Forest", and all the emotions were like sunshine on the baskets in the narrow alleys of Buenos Aires. Those gentle joys of Jiguang Katyu in his Chinese works constitute the whole here.
