C'est beau l'amour, non?

This movie has been stored on my computer for a long time. The reason why I didn't watch it may be related to his cover. The Melanie on the cover looks very young, which makes me less urge to click.

One day, I heard AaRON's Lili on the radio. Of course, I was surprised to search for information about this duo, and I naturally linked to this movie: I won a lot of movie awards in one go, the actor The lineup is strong and so on, but what attracted me was Philippe Lioret, a director who was halfway through his career. I've seen two of his other films, L'équipe and Mademoiselle. I think this time will also surprise me.

Based on a 2001 novel of the same name, the film tells the story of how two generations get along in an ordinary family in the suburbs of Paris. This is an eternal theme. Father worked hard to support the family, provide houses and cars, and also take care of the children's hobbies, buy musical instruments, and buy mountaineering equipment. But in the eyes of children, parents become "nanny", raising but not teaching, thinking that they are backward in concept and unable to communicate. A family civil war may break out over a trivial matter, and no one is willing to back down.

At the beginning of the film, Elise heard from a friend a song written by her twin brother to her, and I began to realize that the atmosphere of this film was destined to be heavy and sad. Every actor in the film is very good, especially the parents. In order not to let her daughter know that her brother died in an accident, she tried to be calm in front of her daughter, but she was struggling with pain in her heart. On the first day of the new year, the three of them sat together for a reunion dinner. When the father read the postcard he wrote to Elise in imitation of his son's handwriting and called himself "le con" (fool), the mother finally couldn't stand it anymore and cried. . At this moment, only the two of them knew why.

At the end of the film, Elise accidentally sees her brother's guitar hidden in the trunk of her father's car. Maybe she knew something was wrong from the beginning, but she just didn't want to admit it. His father's solution to the problem may seem crazy to outsiders, but that's what gives Elise, who has had a mental breakdown, the courage to continue living. Family love is more powerful than we imagine.

Life has to go on, let's all live well.

PS: Philippe Lioret is a native of Paris, but Bretagne appeared at the same time in the three films he directed. I don’t know if the director has a Bretagne complex. Anyone who knows, please let me know.
