powerless quarrel

The marginalized way of life will always be brutally pushed and crushed by the mainstream culture.
Forests are destroyed because human beings are going to expand.
The civet cats were forced to change the way they lived because of the expansion of humanity.

The history of human development on this planet is actually a history of environmental changes.

Why change, not destroy.
Because when I saw the civet cat that finally turned into a human sitting on the train in the city, looking at the scenes outside the window, I asked myself, can you give up the brightly lit life in the city? Can you give up 24-hour hot water? Can you give up the convenience of getting from one city to another in just a few hours? Can you give up the life of not having to go to the natural jungle for food? The
answer is: I can't.

I believe that even if most people watched the ending of the movie and shed tears when Lush was murdered alive, few people could avoid completely abandoning modern civilization and returning to the era of farming and burning.

I saw the civet cats, like a group of children, happily playing pranks, hoping to attract people's attention and understand their intentions.
In the end it was all in vain.

I feel sad, but there is nothing I can do.

Hayao Miyazaki's animation is really not so awesome, suitable for people of any age. In 1994, I was aware of environmental protection issues and made animations to instill environmental awareness into children's hearts and let them contribute to conservation in the future. How noble and intelligent can humans be than animals? Even if they are smarter than them, isn't the final outcome the same? Human beings are just raccoons and other animals themselves.

The details are humorous and the overall theme of the story comes first, which is a bit out of touch.

Pom Poko quotes

  • Ponkichi: If we get rid of all the humans, that means... we'll never eat tempura again! Or beef jerky! Or popcorn.

Tanuki: Hamburgers! Donuts! Potato chips! Pepperoni pizza! Chicken wings!

[Gonta is moved by this. His eyes tear and his mouth waters]

    Gonta: I can taste it!

Seizaemon: So, then, do you think it would be alright if we kept a few humans around, Gonta?

Gonta: [wiping the saliva from his mouth] We have no choice.

  • Shokichi: Master, would you re-enact the tale of the young samurai who shot the fan?

Hage: Ah. I'll need some help.

[He transforms into Nasu no Yoichi. He flies towards the crowd. Gonta's eyes bulge as he realizes that Master Hage is homing in on him. The crowd of tanuki scramble. Master Hage lands on Gonta and clings to his back. The Taka tanuki struggles, then hops around on all fours and turns into a horse. Hage rides around the clearing. Water seems to flood into the clearing, and Master Hage rides Gonta into it. Before them is an image of the sea, and three boats. One of the boats has the image of a woman standing on the bow of the boat and a fan on the top of the mast. Hage draws a bow and shoots the fan, sending it flying into the air]
