The people around lars are very unfamiliar to us

It's been a while since I watched this movie. What left the deepest impression on me in the film was not lars' shy and warm smile, but the tolerance and understanding of the people in the small town where he lived. From their interpersonal relationships, we can clearly observe that the people there perceive the greatest kindness to others. I think this is probably the ultimate concern of humanitarianism that we often talk about.
An autistic person like lars, it's only natural to have such a move - in real life there is a false lover who can actually be allowed to touch his too exclusive body. However, what amazes me is that the townspeople will allow Bianca to go to the dance, the man of the house will rock the wheelchair and Bianca will dance, and she is allowed to enter the church again... people Forgiveness and caring between people, this inspiring relationship is enough to cause a heart shake.
I have a hobby of trying to guess the rest of a movie when it's a quarter of the way through. I amThe predicted plot is this:
After a long time, lars' neighbors, including his brother and sister-in-law, are tired of this absurd situation. So they start trying to talk to Bianca in front of lars, while pretending to be unanswered, thus implying that lars Bianca is not a real person. The kids in the town would often strip Bianca naked when lars wasn't paying attention and let her walk down the street while their parents slapped their hands in a panic and dragged them home and locked them up door. Lars gradually fell into a state of despair in which fantasy and reality were rejected. He felt anxieties from the outside world, everyone speculating and cursing their own lives in private. Finally one day, his brother and sister-in-law's family realized that lars had not been out for many days. When they opened the door, lars was lying on the ground, the blood beside his wrist had already dried to a dark red, and in the corner of his small bedroom were some pieces of rubber, with his lips and an eyeball attached, by his sister-in-law foot accidentally stepped on. . . . .

After watching the video, I was amazed at first - I never thought that lars could be cured until then. Afterwards, there was a sadness that was as white as winter clouds—the kind of interpersonal relationship around lars was too unfamiliar to us!

Lars and the Real Girl quotes

  • Dagmar: So, tell me about Karin. I don't know her very well.

Lars Lindstrom: Oh, she's wonderful. Gus and I are very lucky with women - she's wonderful. But she...

Dagmar: That's okay, let's find you something to read

Lars Lindstrom: No, it's just... between us?

    Dagmar: Of course.

Lars Lindstrom: I'm worried about her. I think she has a little problem.

Dagmar: Oh, well, maybe you shouldn't tell me.

Lars Lindstrom: No, that's okay. It's just, and I think it's because she's insecure, it's just, she's just always trying to hug everybody. You know, some people don't like that. Some people don't like to be hugged. But she doesn't realize that. She takes it personally, and, it hurts her feelings. I don't know what to do about that. Do you?

Dagmar: It's such a comfort sometimes, just to have somebody's arms around you. Don't you think?

    Lars Lindstrom: No.

    Dagmar: It feels good.

Lars Lindstrom: It does not feel good. It, it hurts.

Dagmar: Oh, like a cut, or bruise?

Lars Lindstrom: Like a burn. Like when you go outside and your feet freeze and you come back in and then they thaw out? It's like that. It's almost exactly like that.

    Dagmar: Same with everyone?

Lars Lindstrom: Uh, not really with Bianca. But everyone else

  • Dagmar: Don't you want to be an uncle?

Lars Lindstrom: Don't you want to be a mom?

Dagmar: [pauses, whispers] Yes. But I'm not able to have children of my own.
