desperate desire

Because yesterday I saw Jenny imitating the dress of the heroine Lucia of "Midnight Gatekeeper", so I thought of this movie I watched many years ago.
I always read it and forget it, so I had to write it down.

---There are plots revealed, watch carefully--

After World War II, the conductor's wife Lucia came to Vienna and accidentally discovered in the hotel that the night gatekeeper was Max, a military doctor from a German fascist concentration camp. Max had protected Lucia from harm while in the concentration camp. So Lucia stayed at the hotel alone with mixed emotions, and spent the past years with Marx. Marx, the fascist murderer, always treated Lucia like his "Baby Girl". On the other hand, the world is purging the fascist remnants, and Max, along with several fascist remnant officers, try to hide and find and kill witnesses who threaten them, including Lucia. In the middle of this love and stubborn life, Max betrayed his henchmen and ended up dying together with Lucia.

Snippet 1: Max puts on Lucia's shoes, Lucia kicks him down, then rushes into the room, closes the door, smashes a glass bottle at the door, and opens the door. Max rushed in in a hurry, the sharp glass pierced his feet, Lucia reached out and stroked the soles of his feet, Max stepped down hard, connecting the glass and Lucia's hand.
--It is said that this is an SM erotic movie. Including some marginalized symbolic fragments from the concentration camp, and Max's chaining of Lucia in the apartment, reminds me of Almodovar's "Tie Me, Tie Me". "Midnight Gatekeeper" does not have the absurdity of Almodovar, but has more poetic eroticism.

Snippet 2: Lucia sees the ruffled pink dress at the thrift store, reminds her of a similar dress Max put on her at the concentration camp, and she buys it. Max stroked the silky silk dress on Lucia's body like it was yesterday.
--Two people who are greedy for yesterday, lingering in the feelings of abuse or abuse in the bloody years, or the desire to rely on and protect.

Fragment 3: [My favorite episode] In the concentration camp, in front of the officers, Lucia wore a military cap, topless, loose military trousers with a suspender, and black leather on her hands that reached her arms Gloves, singing that tune in a languid, slightly hoarse voice. After singing, Max gave Lucia a gift with joy, and Lucia opened it and found that it was a head that once belonged to a prisoner who often bullied her.
--Ruzia's beautiful body, charming tune, and pleasing way of death, make people discover beauty in that suffocating world. The film's controversy, more or less, lies in its glorification of the Nazis. The dead gray German military uniform has since then been interpreted by Lucia as a symbol of erotic culture.

Snippet 4: Max and Lucia have been in the apartment for a long time, they dare not go out, they are afraid of death. Lucia licked the last bit of jam like a dog and had sex with Max for the first and last time.
--The murderous Max was so powerless in the end, unable to protect himself and his love. Their last desire turned out to be nothing more than a thirst for food. Max said he chose to work at night because he was afraid of the sun. Maybe that's why he would choose to hide so stubbornly. They finally escaped from the apartment at night, walked on the bridge with each other's arms, and were double-tapped to death.

Pretending to force a young woman like Jiechen to hold her up to the sky, I haven't seen it clearly

Under the shell of sadomasochism, it is actually a purely sad love story. I mainly came to see Lamplin. I always felt that she was familiar when she was young. It turned out that she had also acted in "Nazi Madness"...

The Night Porter quotes

  • [last lines]

    Bert: Well?

Klaus: He doesn't answer. It's off the hook.

    [lights a cigarette]

Klaus: Tell me, Bert. How long have you known Max?

Bert: Let's not talk about it.

Klaus: You don't, er... dance for him anymore?

    Bert: I've lost him.

  • Countess Stein: You were always insane, and you still are.

Max: Sane, insane then... hm. Who's to judge?

    [referring to himself and Lucia]

Max: And just you remember... we're both in the same boat.
