With the flowing piano sound and the dreamy pies'sweet smell, here starts the film.
Jenna, a pie genius also a very kind and beautiful woman who is working at a pie diner as a waitress. Making pie to her just like poetizing to poet or builing for architect and painting to paiter. Every pie she made is a masterpiece! But Jenna has a husband who is a absolutely narcissist called Earl. He wants Jenna pay all her attention just to him and do what he wants her to do and say the words he wants to hear."All those really nonsenses! But Jenna can do is just follow, even Earl never allows she has her own money and stops her to attend the pie-making contest. And the stupid demand that ask Jenna love him more than love there baby.
Jenna is so disappionted. Because that means she maybe will never leave her husband although she really wants. And there is a harsh Cal in the place she work never stop to ask his waitress to do this to do that. It seems to be no space for her own even no freedom.
But when Jenna met Dr. Pomatter. Jim Pomatter is a man who really care about women's health both mental and physical. He's kind, tender, gentle and good-looking! When Jenna and Pomatter fell in love, Jenna's life was refreshed. Maybe she began to be aware of the meaning of her existence except for making pie. Pomatter is not just a love affair to Jenna, no matter he is the true love of her or not , he gave Jenna a reason or a comparison to think about her marriage, life and future.
Except Jenna, there are two women role in the film - Dawn and Becky. Dawn is an older-single-youth with pale and bloodless skin while Becky's husband is disabled. Every woman has their own problems. And the only solution is depending on themselves. Because they needn't depend on others especially man!
Old Joe is the boss of the pie diner. Although he is very particular about food and demanding, he is really a wise old man~He seems to know everything about Jenna and give her a lot of suggestions by a special way. In his mind, Jenna is not just a waitress, but like a daughter.
Nothing can change Jenna's talent of making pie while nobody can abtain Jenna's pursuit of real life. Taking the first step ususally is the hardest thing before making dicision. But when Jenna stared at her own daughter but not for the love to Pomatter, she finally said that words to Earl"I don't love you any more,I want to divorce ,I am done with you!"That's what I called the real mean feminism! We have our own opinion of the world, and we know what can we do and what we should do. There's no need for us to live under man's control or depending on them. Same as Dawn and Becky, choose the lover you love, do what you think is right! Go!
Baby don't you cry, gonna make a pie
Life sometimes is as easy as a pie~!

Waitress quotes

  • Jenna: I don't want you to save me. I don't need to be saved.

  • Earl: Hey. You remember what I said - don't you go lovin' that baby too much.

Jenna: I don't love you, Earl. I haven't loved you for years. I want a divorce.

Earl: [laughs] Well, that's not a funny joke. You got this new baby here, you shouldn't be making jokes like that...

Jenna: I want you the hell out of my life. You are never to touch me, ever again; I am done with you. If you ever come within six yards of me, I will flatten your sorry ass and I'll enjoy doin' it.
