The beauty of the bow

I finished watching Kim Ki-duk's "The Bow". I downloaded it to the computer a long time ago, and I only watched it now because I classified it into the category of depressing films. The waves that break this calm are shocking.

I first saw the beauty, the boundless beauty of the sea, the pure and moving beauty of a girl, the beauty of the bow, the beauty of music, the beauty of the old man's persistence, the beauty in the eyes of a girl and a boy who were intoxicated when they met... Kim Ki-duk used his lens Unexpected and shocking beauty is created in a seemingly small and enclosed space.

"I hope that until I die, I can live in a state of tension, like a bow." Kim Ki-duk explained the reason why he chose "bow" as the film concept.
"In this film, I want to ask a question, when we get old, are we really powerless to do everything? We give up a lot of things just because we are too old. With this film, I hope to show the audience So, when this old man puts 'selfish' love on a young girl, he can still be beautiful, even on the day he walks toward death. I think it's beautiful to be endlessly longing for one thing. Especially It's such a long-term obsession for other people." The

old man's love for the girl is complicated and selfish. The beautiful girl fell in love with the young student. After being locked in a boat for more than ten years, she finally left the sea. Going to her completely unknown land, all this is inevitable, just like the life of each of us. However, what puzzles me is why did the old man choose to jump into the sea after he finally fulfilled his wish for many years? Did he realize the inevitability of the previous ones? Or is it for some reason that I can't understand at my current age and experience?
