"I hope that until I die, I can live in a state of tension, like a bow." Kim Ki-duk explained the reason why he chose "bow" as the film concept.
"In this film, I want to ask a question, when we get old, are we really powerless to do everything? We give up a lot of things just because we are too old. With this film, I hope to show the audience So, when this old man puts 'selfish' love on a young girl, he can still be beautiful, even on the day he walks toward death. old man's love for the girl is complicated and selfish. The beautiful girl fell in love with the young student. After being locked in a boat for more than ten years, she finally left the sea. Going to her completely unknown land, all this is inevitable, just like the life of each of us.
