romantic poet dull movie

Dylan Thomas has always been regarded as an English poet, and when I saw the movie, I realized that he was originally Welsh. The four states of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are actually quite similar. Don't confuse the four states.

The film Edge of Love, based on the life of Dylan Thomas, was produced by a cultural fund in Wales in collaboration with the BBC. Scotland has been clamoring for independence, but Wells never wanted to, so it was only natural that the state-run BBC broadcaster, based in England, would support the filming of Dylan Thomas' life. It's a pity that this film, which was intended to promote British writers, was really poorly made, which is quite unexpected.

Dylan Thomas lived with two women during his lifetime, and his life was undoubtedly very beautiful. If it was to be made into a 90-minute movie, he would have no worries about the lack of interesting content. Now the movie "Edge of Love" focuses on how the two women see the great poet, which was originally a very innovative arrangement. It's a pity that the plot selection is not interesting enough. How did DT attract those two women? How did those two women become obsessed with him? How do you see him? And what effect did it have on him? It's a pity that I can't see the movie with my sleepy eyes.

In the movie, Dylan Thomas seems to be living in a state of tension with the two women more often and is not that romantic, so this scene is not a good entertainment. Of course, the two women gave the poet a lot of creative inspiration, but because there are many painful life situations in this film, it makes people feel that the poet wrote profound poems because of frustration.

On the other hand, the choreographer chooses certain verses to recite to match certain plots, which is a good arrangement, but it may not necessarily be effective for the general audience. If the audience can associate with the plot screen after listening to a few poems, the director is too wishful thinking. The audience just looks at the picture and listens to a few lines of poetry. I even suspect that the audience may even misunderstand the poet's style.
The best part of the film is the courtroom scene near the end. The interrogation process and the reactions of everyone later are cross-cut, resulting in strong drama and dramatic effects.

The film, produced by the Wells Cultural Fund in partnership with the BBC, if it makes sense, is that it shows us what the poet's seaside place was like, and what his living conditions were like. After the audience has mastered these materials, and then becomes the poet's reader, I believe they will feel a little deeper.

The way the director of this film handles the three actors and actresses in the film needs to be talked about. The director has transformed Keira Knightley, the flower of British bittersweet films. Her heartwarming performances in romance films in the past are gone now, and the film has lost its brilliance. As for the other two actors and actresses Matthew Rhys and Sienna Miller, it is not a pity to forget them after watching them. Other aspects of music and photography are also mediocre, with no splendor. (over)

This is not just an autobiography of poet Dylan Thomas. Through him, the film tells more about the subtle emotions between two women. No matter how talented Dylan Thomas is, there is human jealousy and darkness.

The Edge of Love quotes

  • Dylan Thomas: Where's our son?

Caitlin MacNamara: Chopped up in little bids and packed with my knickers in the suitcase.

Dylan Thomas: Oh, dear, the police'll be chasing you.

  • Vera Phillips: I don't melt at the sight of a uniform, that's all. Sod it. I don't like nosy parkers.

Caitlin MacNamara: It was a civil question. I could have said, "Are you after my husband?" But I didn't.

Vera Phillips: Heartache, that's what I see in a uniform. I'm not gonna love someone just to have them die off on me.
