ugly ambiguous

Two women I admire, Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench, are so ambiguous in one film. In a word - it's a pleasure to sit back and relax without a thriller.
The dark side of human nature portrayed in the film is quite complex, it makes people feel the great passion of loners, and at the same time warns you that it can be extremely dangerous and harmful, which is mainly interpreted by the lesbian played by Judi Dench . Her superb acting skills make her character look like a demon. Although it seems that she just did something in line with her inner logic, it seems that she can get sympathy, but when we insist on seeing the end of the film, this sympathy will be gone. And Cate Blanchett's performance is more layered, and the British actor's acting skills are indeed breathtaking.
A young woman with a seemingly happy family longs for a passionate love, and a single old woman who likes to spy on her private affairs creates a same-sex conspiracy all the time.

  • [Barbara's first impressions of Sheba as she watches her in the playground]

Barbara Covett: [voiceover] Hard to read the wispy novice. Is she a sphinx or simply stupid? Artfully dishevelled today. The tweedy tramp coat is an abhorrence. It seems to say "I'm just like you." But clearly she's not. A fey person, I suspect.

  • [Barbara's opinion of her male pupils]

Barbara Covett: [to Sheba] Little towers of testosterone. You'll soon get used to them.
