Plot: 5/10
Thriller: 6/10
Performance: 8/10

Comprehensive evaluation: C After

watching "The Strangers", it is easy to connect with the three movies I watched last year, one by Naomi Watts and Tim Roth Funny Games US | Funny Games" (B; Extremely Distorted Sin), one is Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale "Vacancy | Pinhole Hotel" (C-; Is the ancient thriller out of date?), and the other is Elisha Cuthbert "Captivity | Imprisonment" (C+; victim of a failed release strategy).

(Picture) Tormented: The posters of "Captivity" and "Funny Games"

look at the appearance of one of the posters. "The Strangers" and "Funny Games" and "Captivity" are exactly the same, they are the crying faces of the heroine who have been tortured. .

In terms of plot, one thing that these films have in common is that these films are all about perverted masochism encountered in a small space. The difference is that "Fun" is a typical "artistic" filming method. Although the plot is disgusting, the filming process highlights the style and acting skills. And "Mo", like "Prisoner" and even "Needle", is very Hollywood-just another horror thriller.

From an actor's point of view, "Mo" is closer to "Prisoner", with a large number of heroines performing outstanding personal performances in isolation horror-of course this is a good thing for the beautiful party Liv Tyler, but the audience may not be happy. Because from the narrative of the story, the plot of "Mo" is the same as "Needle", except that the victim runs around, lacks the necessary plot changes, the climax comes slowly, and the process is lengthy. From this perspective, the story of "Prisoner" is more interesting.

I still want to talk about the amazing box office that "The Strangers" achieved with mediocre film quality. Also a summer film release, "The Strangers" is simply a model for small-cost horror film distribution. At the end of May of this year, during the horror and thriller movie’s cut-off period, at a mere $9M cost, he snatched $20M from "Sex and the City" the week it was opened ([Sex and the City] North American Weekend Box Office: 05/30/ 08-06/01/08), so far it has won $52M, which is nearly six times over! Compared with last year's "Captivity" due to a major market release, the fiasco caused by the major failures is really a heaven and an underground. The performance of "Vacancy" was mediocre at the end of last spring, while "Funny Games" was not released on a large scale at all. It is obvious that the filmmakers are fully aware of the film's "non-Hollywood" or "non-popularity" characteristics.

However, the high box office is not necessarily the best film. Want to stimulate and pass the time to make do.
