say no

After watching the movie, I was so shocked that I was very excited to watch it in the middle of the night.

This is the third film in the 20-year period that an Iranian director has been banned from filming.

The film does not have any professional actors, and the chronological order is generally consistent with the chronological order of the real world. Most of the plot is driven by dialogue. The seemingly random dialogue plot contains a lot of information and implies deep social problems. The plot twists and turns, and even begins There are echoes at the end, which are very interesting. Anyway, I was very excited to watch it, and it is hard to believe that this was not choreographed.

teacher and thief

In the beginning, it was two strangers who shared a car, and they discussed the issue of punishment. The thief thought that the person who stole the tires of the car had no bottom line and should be arrested and executed. The teacher believes that the death penalty is a very serious criminal law. Although they are guilty, they are not guilty of death. It can be inferred from her words that she even opposes the criminal law of the death penalty. But thieves don't think so: lesser crimes are punishable by the death penalty in this country. In a country whose legislation is based on absurdity, it is difficult to talk about rational morality, and humanitarianism does not exist. What's interesting is that when the thief got out of the car, he confessed that he was a thief, which is even more incredible. He said that people who stole tires have no bottom line, they are nothing more than fifty steps and a hundred steps. He himself stood on the commanding heights of morality and talked eloquently, saying that the execution of people was so arbitrary, but he did not expect that if the country really issued this decree, he would be the next person to be executed. How stupid.

Bootleg smuggler and director student

Coincidentally, the director was recognized as a pirated disc smuggler (hereafter referred to as the peddler). The director's son often bought pirated discs, and he wanted to buy one himself. Then there was a car accident, as detailed in the next paragraph. After arriving at the hawker's destination, it turned out to be one of his customers, a directing student. The student also recognized the director immediately. The student wanted to shoot a short film. Although he had read a lot of books and movies, he still struggled to know how to start. The director gave the most sincere advice: no one can tell you how to make a movie, the first step is the hardest, those movie books are all other people's, shoot those that belong to your own experience. I think this was his experience of filming at the beginning. I felt that the most important thing was love. Just like what he is doing, I also want to shoot if he is forbidden to make films. This is what I want to do and I love. The following is also very interesting. Well-known directors recommend pirated CDs to directing students...... Actually, it is an irony. No director likes pirated CDs, which is a blasphemy to their achievements. But the hawker is very righteous. What do the students see without me. For example, you, without me, you can say goodbye to Woody Allen. Actually, I don't think Woody Allen is watching. This part really amuses me. It can be seen from this that Iran should ban foreign films. After all, few foreign films have women wearing headscarves. People who want to watch good movies can only buy them secretly from smugglers. It's also hard for the director to blame the peddler, who himself was banned from filming for twenty years. It's good to see China in this way, you can see most of the movies you want to watch, such as this "impure" movie.

couple in car accident

Then in the last paragraph, I happened to meet a couple who were involved in a car accident. The husband was badly injured and had obvious bloodstains on his body. While the director was on his way to the hospital, the husband always wanted to write a suicide note to leave his inheritance to his wife, not his brother, to ensure that his wife would have a house to live in, instead of begging on the streets. It can be seen that according to Iranian law, the property of a man after his death goes to his brother's family rather than his wife. And women in this socioeconomic capacity should be very poor, because the society excludes women from working. It's ridiculous isn't it, you can see how disrespectful Iran is to women. It can also be seen that the husband really loves his wife, which is the only important thing before his own death. The camera is always on the husband, and the louder voice is the wail of the wife's sorrow. I think most people will be touched by this scene. After confirming that her husband's life is not in danger, she still wants that video, which shows how insecure women are in this country. At the end of the movie, the husband's brother smashed the car to find the memory card, which can also prove this point. Just after the car accident, the brother was thinking about the issue of inheritance after death, which is really disappointing.

From this plot, I have a deeper understanding of the documentary technique, or the value of realism. How to present a husband who was seriously injured in a car accident, but anxiously wanted to write a suicide note for his wife? Find a good actor to play this part? The most direct is to record an event that actually happened, and nothing is more real. Even the best imitation is fake, not as good as the real one. The effect is also very good, which makes people, at least I feel very shocked, just like what you and I may encounter in Iran.

grandma holding goldfish

After saying goodbye to the students, I was greeted by two grandmothers who were going to release goldfish to ensure longevity. They think that the two goldfish are their incarnations, so they are superstitious. In countries with a relatively large religious influence, such things should be very common.

director's lovely niece

After seeing off the grandmother, the director rushed to pick up his niece. This niece is super playful and super cute. First of all, instead of getting in the car, she put her hand on the window, looked at the director with a questioning face, didn't speak, just looked, as if to say do you know what you did wrong. After that, I started complaining nonstop. I came here an hour late, and I was driving such a broken car. I was going to show off what the director’s uncle said, what if I was kidnapped. So cute, no matter the length or the character. After that, he became an important figure in the next movie, the only photographer in the whole movie, and this should be the youngest photographer in the award-winning movie. Sometimes the director would get out of the car, and the niece would shoot the director with her small DSLR. One of my niece's homework is to shoot a short film, and then read a few topics that are not allowed in the short film. For example, women are not allowed to wear headscarves, which is living proof of discrimination against women. Reactionary and immoral things are not allowed to be photographed. This long list is proof that speech is not free, I think the director should be very angry when he listens to his niece, he hates these rules, it is these ugly rules that make this country bad. It's these rules that forbid him from making the movie, and that's at the heart of his making this movie: say no to those rules.

hair small

After that, the director answered a phone call and made an appointment with an old friend of his. One is to find him to relieve stress and resentment, and the other is to hope that he can do something. The reason was that he was robbed and beaten one day. He recognized the attacker through his mask, but he did not dare to call the police, because a person who complained was executed not long ago. He was afraid that he would also be executed, so even if he knew who it was, he dared not speak up. ........In a country that was attacked but dared not call the police and was unable to maintain the safety of one's own life and property, what about normal life and happiness? What's more, he found the attacker, and he brought them drinks. The director wanted to see what this person looked like, and to publish novels, just like ordinary people like you and me. After saying goodbye to the old friend, the niece also said that the uncle (the attacker) was fine... The director asked him what he looked like, and the niece said that he was a normal person, very kind... The director's thinking is that evil people must grow up Fierce, if he is like us, then how can I distinguish who is a good person from a bad person? Is it possible that the ordinary-looking people who come and go on the street may also be a thug? That's right, the devil is in the world, beside you and me, there is nothing special that looks ordinary. We should be good at focusing on the good side of human nature, but we should not underestimate the evil of human nature.

little boy

During the time when the director was out of the car, the niece saw a little boy picking up trash. He picked up a banknote. She wanted him to return it to the owner as the material for her short story. The boy was unwilling to give up the money he picked up. The money was too much for him. After arguing with his niece, he realized that it was wrong, but because of shame and because others maliciously expelled him, he did not return the money to the owner. A car window separates two worlds. The camera in his niece’s hand may never be available to him. There are still such children scavenging waste in the most developed city of this country. The social welfare of this country is not perfect, and the gap between the rich and the poor is very deep.

female lawyer holding flowers

Then, during the journey, the director met an acquaintance again - a beautiful lady with a rose. When I entered the door, I gave my niece a flower. Flowers should be given to beautiful things. My niece and her are both lovely. She and the director have a similar fate. They were both banned from working by the relevant associations. I guess she was banned from the lawyer's license because she provided legal assistance to women or vulnerable groups. She resisted some customs in this country, maybe because of her She was banned because she was a woman. She was going to prison to visit a girl who was on a hunger strike. The girl just went to a ball game with her friends before being held in jail. The other friends were let go, only she was still serving her sentence, it had been a few months. Incomprehensible isn't it, this country doesn't allow women to watch football games. She wants to express her anger, but she has no ability to do anything, she can only express it by hunger strike, but the government will not care, if this country cares about women's emotions, it will not lock her up. In the end, she stopped drinking water, and her anger had turned into despair. The lawyer is visiting prison, trying to save her from chronic suicide. I don't know if she succeeded in the end.

This lawyer is one of the greatest people I have ever met, and she finally said to the director: This country is like a big prison, make your best friend your enemy, but whatever! There is only one kind of heroism in the world, and you still love life after you recognize the true face of life. She knows very well how unfair, unjust, and inhumane this country is, but instead of being cynical, she still loves life, holding flowers, smiling at others, and willing to do whatever she can to help others. As soon as she got in the car, the director asked her where she was going, and she said she was going to heaven. I think in this little taxi, these three people built a real paradise. What I adore is a true down-to-earth idealist with a good and even unrealistic vision of life, and then allow myself to actually be part of that.

She also discovered the director's true intentions in driving the cab and dedicated a rose to our audience: here, this flower for the people who love movies, because these people are wonderful people. Wow! Isn't this just talking about me? I feel that I had a dialogue with her that traveled through time and space, which was very touching. Every time I see something cute, it makes me feel the meaning of my existence.

In fact, the director's entire process of driving a taxi was very unprofessional. He was not familiar with the road, refused to take a taxi, chased customers, was late to pick up his niece for so long, and inadvertently became a hawker's partner. Well, let's continue to be a director.

The entire filming process, shooting content, distribution process is fantastic. The director could only shoot secretly. Even after winning the Golden Bear Award, the director was not allowed to go abroad to receive the award because he was under house arrest by the state. It was the award that his niece in the film received on his behalf. This should be one of the award-winning films that cost the least amount of money and film crews. Out of frustration, this should be the most realistic film, very close to a documentary. In addition to the dramatic plot, the director's personal courage, passion and love are even more worthy of appreciation.

"They obviously did those things, but we couldn't film them? Why on earth? I don't understand."

qtmd rules. The whole world is watching.

  • Nasrin Sotoudeh: They work in a way that let us to know they are watching us.Their tactics are obvious.First, they write you up a police record. Suddenly, you are accused of being an agent for Mossad, The CIA, or MI6. Then they tack on something about your morals, your lifestyle. They make your life into a prison.Although you are released from prison, but the outside world is only a bigger prison. They make your nearest friends into your worst enemies. After that you think all you can do is either leave the country or pray to return to that hole. So i think it's better to let it go.

  • Jafar Panahi: Those films are already made, those books are already written. You have to look elsewhere, you have to find it for yourself.
