It is a story about a slum girl changing her destiny through hard work and using her talent in chess. It is a bit similar to Hou Yi's abandonment of the army. It is a good film. The daughter is not as good at acting as her mother.
The girl is very lucky to have met a good teacher, who has been caring for her, nurturing her, and encouraging her when she encounters setbacks. The difficult conditions in Uganda have cast some national colors on this film, and there are still people in this country who are fighting for their dreams. The teacher gave up his high-tech job in order to teach his child to play chess, and his wife understood him so well, admired him, and appreciated their mutual understanding and love.
However, in the movie, the girl's mental processing is not deep enough, and there are relatively few activities in her heart, which does not affect me very much. Relatively speaking, Hou Yi's abandonment is better.
