In Dongcheng, the tragedy is not individual, but common, and it traps everyone in the town. Under the torrent of the times, no one's life is not affected. People drink alcohol because of boredom, take drugs because they don't want to sober up, and deceive because they can't face it. Dongcheng is a collection of complex negative emotions of human beings. But people also love, protect, seek truth, and transcend themselves. There is always something in people that cannot be destroyed.
Thanks to Kate Winslet's extremely relaxed and real acting skills, it made me in front of the screen seem to be on a trip to the East Side, witnessing this gray year, these people really exist, and these things are really happening around them.
