Some color

I finally bought this Happy Valley, which was released in 1998. A long time ago, during a business trip, the hotel HBO watched the first half of the movie. I was so worried about not knowing the ending. Now I finally bought it. I quickly pulled it to the place I saw last time and finished it, and then watched it again. Again.
Now when I watched it, I found that there was a young Tobey Maguire inside.

Although Reese Witherspoon belonged to a film that could guess the end, I didn’t see that Reese Witherspoon chose to stay in Happy Valley. In fact, two young people have been there since entering this consecutive game. It started to change. Reese Witherspoon is an unreasonable and superficial little girl. After getting what she wants (basketball captain), she gradually becomes bored with this kind of life. Is it another interesting thing to study? The first step was purely for fun and tried. Slowly, Reese Witherspoon started to have his brains and knew what he wanted. And Tobey Maguire, a little boy who originally lived in his own world, was surprised and excited from the beginning after entering this world, and gradually became involved in it. The original purpose may also be fun, trying to change or influence the unchanging life and environment and people's thoughts on TV. Well, all of these can be changed, especially when everyone breaks away from the original setting, and starts to face their own hearts and understand the magical thing of love, the color will gradually appear on everyone. Perhaps for the simple people of Happy Valley, it is very simple to get some color, and the way of expressing love is also simple. Maybe it is a SEX, a KISS, a little touch or a new attempt. For Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon, It may be more difficult to restore from black and white to color. In the end, their color change was because Reese Witherspoon refused the basketball captain's request and stayed at home to study. Tobey Maguire prevented a bunch of gangsters from harassment for his mother. Only these two points are really inner changes for them.
Conservatives are everywhere, but the conservatives in the play are particularly ridiculous. In order to maintain the original rules, they have worked hard to maintain the original rules. Of course, the final result is that the villain finally faces himself. His true feelings, the result of his anger was that he also turned into color, and fled in panic.
Tobey Maguire, who returned to reality, became more considerate and mature in the face of her failed and sad mother. Yes, he had a rich day.

Pleasantville quotes

  • Skip: I'll see you at school, Mary Sue.

[Jennifer smiles as Skip drives away]

    Jennifer: Who's that?

David: Skip Martin, captain of the basketball team.

    Jennifer: Does he like me?

David: As a matter of fact, he does.

    [Jennifer's smile turns slightly lecherous]

  • [the geography teacher uses a pointer to demonstrate, on the classroom blackboard, the world of Pleasantville, which consists of Elm Street, Main Street, and the Town Hall]

Miss Peters: Last week, class, we discussed the geography of Main Street. This week we're going to be talking about Elm Street. Now, can anyone tell me the difference between Elm Street and Main Street? Tommy.

    Tommy: It's not as long?

Miss Peters: That's right, Tommy, it's not as long. Also, it only has houses, so the geography of Main Street is different than the geography of Elm Street.

[Jennifer is frowning in bewilderment. She raises her hand]

    Miss Peters: Mary Sue!

Jennifer: Yeah. What's outside of Pleasantville?

[the entire class turns to look at her]

    Miss Peters: I don't understand.

Jennifer: Outside of Pleasantville? Like, what's at the end of Main Street?

Miss Peters: [chuckles and shakes her head] Mary Sue. You should know the answer to that! The end of Main Street is just the beginning again.

[the teacher points at the intersection of Elm and Main. The class feels released to giggle at Jennifer/Mary Sue's clearly stupid question, and Jennifer frowns again]
