The design of this seven-episode miniseries is really good, and a lot can be said.
First, the image of the heroine is a big heroine who has been destroyed but is still kind, just, brave and insisting on principles. The son committed suicide, the daughter rebelled, the husband divorced, and the custody of the grandson was taken away. After these misfortunes happened, we saw that a strong single woman still did not give up her serious attitude towards work and the pursuit of justice. She may have many flaws and weaknesses, but her charisma makes her shine.
Second, this small town is simply the epitome of the dark side of society. Suicide, murder, kidnapping happens every day, gun abuse, violence, cheating, kidnapping, drug use, and more. The good and bad of human nature are presented without packaging. Although cruel, it is also real enough.
Third, the design of the real murderer. The real killer was a thirteen-year-old who accidentally killed Erin. But who is the real culprit? If the father did not cheat frequently, the uncle did not cover up, and the mother did not condone and turn a blind eye. The real murderer is the selfishness and desire of human nature. It made a child who should be young and innocent pick up the gun, and the young police detective who should have a better life was shot in the head, and so many people made mistakes.
Fourth, family relationships. The show is about more than one family relationship, and like people say, every family is a bit disfunctional. In the hostess' family, the relationship between mother and daughter, mother and child, relationship with daughter-in-law, and relationship with ex-husband and his family are all knots in the middle-aged crisis. Cases were added to these relationships, and more complex police-suspect relationships were added. Fortunately, at the end, the family opened their hearts, each got the happiness they wanted, and they were able to maintain a good relationship. It is also a perfect ending.
This show was never meant to tell you a suspenseful story to make you guess the real murderer. If you look at it from this angle, you will be disappointed. This show is much deeper than solving the case. If there are any shortcomings that need to be deducted one star, I am a little confused about the emotional world of the heroine, and the role of the professor is not too obvious. Colin's death was a little too sudden and hard to digest. I personally think that if Colin is still the heroine, he may not choose the professor, but after Colin's death, the heroine soon went further with the professor, which is inevitably chilling. But it is also possible that the script was originally designed for the heroine to like to teach, and Colin's actor Kuaiyin is too brilliant to make people look up and misunderstood?
