mistake

After watching the movie, it's a pity that my favorite character is Buddy. I like his innocence, like a child who doesn't grow up. At the beginning, I didn't quite understand what Ann said to Buddy in front of the cliff. Later, I understood what she meant: Buddy thought he liked Ann, and even kept a note for 4 years. , he likes Harris, but he doesn't dare to face this fact.
I haven't read the original novel, so maybe I didn't understand it deeply enough when I watched the movie. Some scenarios can only be imagined. Both Ann and Harris believe that they are responsible for Buddy's death, so they are destined to not bond, they need to punish themselves in this way, and at the same time to remember Buddy. This is destined to be regrettable, tangled...for a lifetime. But I think maybe this is the best ending. As, Ann said to Leila: Don't you think one of us should marry Harris? Lyllard replied: We all did what we needed to do. Yes, too often, what we want to do and what we should do are doomed to be different, and we can only choose what we should do.
