I want to see the moonlight on that island too

——Immature after watching "It Happened One Night" I forgot when and which post recommended this movie. I was bored watching it on the train today, perhaps because the film production technology is immature, and it looks very "original". The story is also very simple. The down-and-out reporter and the idiot eldest lady who rebelled against her father to see her fiancé, rejoices with their mates, takes small twists and turns, and finally achieves a positive result. (I just checked, it was a 1934 movie, and the degree of completion is already very high.) Let me tell you a few scenes that impressed me: 1. The first night the two stayed in the hotel, the male protagonist used a rope The blanket hung between the twin beds, which he said was like the Wall of Jericho, the "wall" that opened the way for the two of them to fall in love. (Although I don't know this allusion, but I feel like the Berlin Wall will come down one day). 2. At the beginning, two people with completely different experiences and backgrounds always disliked each other. The turning point should be when everyone sang and laughed when they got on the bus for the second time. They were infected by this joyful atmosphere. The male and female protagonists looked at each other and smiled. I have never had this kind of experience, I have never felt this kind of happiness. If you ask when the heroine fell in love with the hero, I think it is this moment. 3. The heroine was found out by the passengers. The hero threatened the passengers with intelligence, and then took the heroine out of the car. The two of them had spent all their money and could only sleep on the haystacks in the wild. At this time, the heroine insisted on telling the hero. When she left, she found that the male protagonist was really gone. She was so scared that she thought he was really gone, so she couldn't help crying when she saw him appear again. She became dependent on him. 4. The two stopped the car on the road, and the heroine finally stopped it, but the owner of the car took advantage of the two of them to get out of the car and drove away. The hero recovered his luggage and injured his face. The heroine took care of his wounds. (if that doesn't count as love). 5. On the second night, the hotel was only three hours away from New York. The hostess insisted on staying for one night because she saw her father's statement in the newspaper that she would no longer object to her marriage. But at the moment, the heroine has already fallen in love with the man beside her, and her fiancé seems to be very far away. She uses a lame excuse to ask the hero to stay here for one night before going to New York. 6. This night was still like the first night with a "wall" between the two beds. The heroine asked the hero what he would do if there was a girl he liked. The hero said: I want to go with my lover A small island in the Pacific Ocean, where you will feel at one with the moonlit waters and become part of a vast and great nature, as if you could reach out and pluck the stars from the sky. The heroine couldn't help but pushed open the curtain and asked the hero to take her to that island, she wanted to be that girl. The male protagonist did not respond to her at the time, and the female protagonist cried sadly. After a while, the male protagonist asked her if she really wanted to go, and found that the female protagonist had fallen asleep. Male lead overnight Go back to the newspaper office to borrow money and want to run away with the heroine, but leave the heroine alone to sleep in the hotel. Under the circumstances, the heroine thought that the hero had left and was disheartened and went home with his father. The hero returned excitedly with the money. On the way to the hotel, he saw the heroine follow his father and fiancé home. He thought he was being tricked and left in despair. At this time, there is only the last section left in the movie. The hero and heroine solve the misunderstanding with the help of the heroine's father and escape from the marriage. How should I put it, when two people are on the right side, anything will bring them together. In the last scene of the movie, from the perspective of others, the strange couple is in the hotel, blowing a toy horn, and the "wall" collapses. There is a beginning and an end. After writing so much, a movie from more than 70 years ago is smooth enough, and it really hits a lot of love movies with similar bridges. In addition, a man like the male protagonist is too attractive, and no girl will not love him.

The ancestor of vulgar films is not a false name, and all romantic comedies have to bow their heads. If Colbert is replaced by Vivien Leigh, I don't know what effect it will have, alas. . classic!

Frank Capra's representative work, the first film to win the Oscar "Grand Slam". This film is the originator of romantic comedies, and it also allowed Columbia Pictures to become a first-line studio in one fell swoop. The poor reporter played by Clark Gable and the rich girl played by Kaaba are very charming. The film’s lines are superb and there are constant laughter. Many wonderful sections are used for later generations: Jericho’s Wall, Beautiful Legs to Stop Cars, Carrots, Carrying People and Ass, Traveling and Fleeing Marriage. (9.0/10)

It Happened One Night quotes

  • Peter Warne: [Detectives are looking for Ellie] What do you mean, coming in here? What do you want, anyway?

    Detective: We're looking for somebody.

Peter Warne: Yeah, well look your head off, but don't come busting in here. This isn't a public park. I could near as take a sock at you!

Detective: Take it easy, son, take it easy.

Mr. Dykes: These men are detectives, Mr. Warne.

Peter Warne: I don't care if they're the whole police department. They can't come busting in here, shooting questions at my wife.

Ellie Andrews: Now, don't get so excited, Peter. The man just asked a civil question.

Peter Warne: Oh, is that so? Say, how many times have I told you to stop butting in when I'm having an argument?

Ellie Andrews: Well, you don't have to lose your temper!

Peter Warne: [mockingly] "You don't have to lose your temper." That's what you said the other time, too. Every time I try to protect you. The other night, at the Elks Dance, when that big Swede made a pass at you!

Ellie Andrews: He didn't make a pass at me! I told you a million times!

Peter Warne: Oh, no? I saw him. He kept pawing you all over the dance floor!

Ellie Andrews: [the detectives stand there, flustered] He didn't! You were drunk!

Peter Warne: Aw, nuts! You're just like your old man! Once a plumber's daughter, always a plumbers daughter! There isn't an ounce of brains in your whole family!

Ellie Andrews: [sobbing] Oh, Peter Warne, you've gone far enough! I won't stand for it anymore!

    Peter Warne: Aw, shut up!

Mr. Dykes: Now, you see what you've done?

Detective: Sorry, Mr. Warne. But, you see we've got to check up on everybody.

Detective: We're looking for a girl by the name of Ellen Andrews, you know, the daughter of that big Wall Street mug.

Peter Warne: Yeah? Well, it's too bad you aren't looking for a plumber's daughter

    [to Ellie]

Peter Warne: QUIT BAWLING! QUIT BAWLING!

    [Ellie sobs even louder]

Mr. Dykes: I told you they were a perfectly nice married couple.

[Mr. Dykes and the detectives leave, and Peter and Ellie start laughing]

  • Ellie Andrews: Outside of the fact that you don't like him you haven't got a thing against King.

Alexander Andrews: He's a fake, Ellie.

Ellie Andrews: He's one of the best flyers in the country.

Alexander Andrews: He's no good and you know it. You married him only because I told you not to.

Ellie Andrews: You've been telling me what not to do ever since I can remember.

Alexander Andrews: That's because you've always been a stubborn idiot,

Ellie Andrews: I come from a long line of stubborn idiots!
