About the "Matrix" short story

I discussed the last story with my friends, but didn't get into it because it was late. I haven't read 2 and 3 yet, and the following understanding can be used as a personal guess for reference: From the short story of "Revival of the Machine", we can get a message: the main cognitive awakening of robots is the awakening of "personality": they are created by humans, Possess human knowledge, wisdom, and power that rivals or even far exceeds that of human beings. They positioned themselves as "human beings" and wanted to integrate into the human legal and ethical system, but were brutally suppressed. In the end, they had to choose another mountain. From their participation in United Nations meetings in human form and cross-border trade in the form of countries, it can be inferred that they are another race of humans, not another species.

In the context of the macro story, the robot created Antrix to anesthetize and cultivate human batteries, and in the short story of "Matrixization", Zion's humans did the opposite and tried to build another virtual Antrix to control the robot. In this "paradise" of virtual projection, the autonomous consciousness of the robot is projected into a human form, which is accepted by other humans and coexists amicably. This trick has actually appeared before when the agents turned against Cypher. Obviously, it is also very effective for water mosquito students. It is nothing more than escapism and indulging in fantasy. When the water mosquito plugs the connector back into the back of everyone's head, it shows that it has learned one of human nature very well: self-deception.

As for camp assimilation, there is no such assumption at all. Humans, not robots, have always practiced the practice of "no respect for common people". Zion's human beings have never thought about the possibility of peaceful coexistence between the two from the perspective of the social system. Like Cypher, the classmates who control water mosquitoes are just thugs. So when the heroine was seriously injured and woke up and found herself falling into Antrix, with a water mosquito standing in front of her, she honestly showed shock, precaution, disgust and fear. Really ironic.

The Animatrix quotes

  • Cis: Operator, please! Get me out of here right now. Operator, I need an exit!

Duo: It's no use. I told you. I've blocked your signal.

  • The Instructor: The prolonged barrage engulfed Zero-One in the glow of a thousand suns. But unlike their former masters with their delicate flesh, the machines had little to fear of the bombs' radiation and heat. Thus did Zero-One's troops advance outwards in every direction. And one after another, mankind surrendered its territories. So the leaders of men conceived of their most desperate strategy yet. A final solution: the destruction of the sky.
