After watching it on and off for a few days, at first I thought it was a story about the independence of African people, but it turned out to be a documentary about photography.

Human desire, cruelty, pain, hope, selflessness, and bravery are all silently described in the pictures. I asked myself if I had the courage and strength to go through the darkness. The answer is that I don't, so I admire the master. What is even more admirable is his rebirth. After experiencing the Eye of Darkness, he was once again healed in this world. I see a more inclusive, peaceful, and greater world.

Going to look for Sebastian Salgado's photography book, the whole movie seems to read the suffering of the world, and then let the soul be reborn.

[May 16, 2019-Beijing Film Academy-"Genes of Film and Wim Wenders on Creation"-Library Lecture Hall] By chance, the school library saw Sebastião Salgado's "Genesis" two days ago, Really shocked. Today the lecture was screened again with this film about Sebastião Salgado. Convinced again.

The Salt of the Earth quotes

  • Sebastião Salgado - Photographer: We are a ferocious animal. We humans are terrible animals. Our history is a history of wars. It's an endless story, a tale of madness.

  • Sebastião Salgado - Photographer: To think that these three-month-old trees will reach their apex in 400 years. Perhaps from there we could try to grasp the concept of eternity. Maybe eternity is measurable.
