After watching the Beatles musical film "Across the Universe" adapted from the stage play, I believe that the stage play is definitely more charming than the movie. But overall, I still don't like this movie. Especially Sadie and Jojo, who allude to Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. The relationship between the two people is actually based on members and lovers, which is really a kind of damage to the essence of rock and roll by romanticism. In addition, the names of all the characters in this film are named after the songs of the Beatles, which always makes people feel too artificial, even far-fetched. Take "Hey! Jude," which was originally written by Paul McCartney to Julian Lennon when John Lennon divorced his wife. Jude is Julian's nickname, and Her in the lyrics refers to the influence and pressure this matter may bring him; but when the song is applied to the movie "Across the Universe", it is the protagonist Jude who is determined to save A song about love with Lucy. The love between men and women in this film is too superficial, and it is inevitable that it will be tacky. Moreover, in terms of the script of "Across the Universe", it is not suitable for adaptation into a movie: it is too shallow and simple. Too superficial interpretation of youth, love, war and Americans. It's just that when I saw Bono, I couldn't help but smile.

About Lucy, Julian Lennon's childhood companion. "Lucy in the sky with Diamomd" is a song written by John Lennon after seeing Julian's portrait of Lucy; while watching "Across the Universe", the moment Jude meets the heroine, I guess Her name Bacheng is Lucy (laughs). It's a typical dog-blood setting. However, the heroine in "I am Sam" is also called Lucy, and the meaning is very different.

Nevertheless, it is also because of these praises or abuses that the greatness of the Beatles can be seen. I finally finished watching "A Hard Day's Night" a while ago, and George Harrison named the Beatles' haircut Auther, which became my favorite part of the movie. I deeply remember that when George passed away in 2001, the media interviewed a Hong Kong record store owner. The boss burst into tears, choked and said it was over, everything was over. George appeared as a special guest at David Bowie's Old Monster's concert shortly before his departure.

I suddenly remembered James Coburn, who played the sharpshooter in The Magnificent Seven.

Dad always admires the Beatles the most is Paul McCartney, he always says he is the most talented, the most superstar style. And his demeanor is even powerful enough to cover the Beatles, so the concept of Uncle Sam is disgusting. So I'm actually suffering from romanticism too, John and George are gone, but I'm fascinated by things that can only stay in the past. Lonely but beautiful.

Across the Universe quotes

  • Jude: What is that place?

Prankster: The headquarters of the league of spiritual deliverance!

Dr. Robert: The home of Dr. Gary, another outlaw, like myself. We're navigators, we're aviators, we're eatin' tators, masturbatin' alligators, bombardiers, we got no fears, we don't shed no tears, we're pushin' the frontiers... of transcendental perception. What's weird is, we haven't met yet, on this or any other plane.

Prankster: Hey doc, he says he won't see you, man.

Dr. Robert: Why, is he sick?

Prankster: He just said he's busy.

Dr. Robert: Did you tell that

    [sniff]

Dr. Robert: sonofabitch that we drove 3,000 miles to see him? Alright, everybody back on the bus. We're going home, to California.

Max: Doc, California isn't home to all of us.

Dr. Robert: What can I say? You're either on the bus, or off the bus.

  • Mr. Kite: It's me!

    [music blast]

    Mr. Kite: In the thing!
