What got me thinking about this movie the most was that the director believed that the other side was the opposite of the world we live in right now—chaotic, dark, and evil. Doesn't this mean that the world we live in now is orderly, bright, and just? But the truth is: the world we live in is chaotic, and as entropy increases, our world will only become more chaotic and more fragmented. What is the definition of light? Humans are nocturnal, so it is light during the day and darkness at night. What about other creatures in this world? There are many nocturnal animals on earth. The deformation shown in the movie: decay, aging, is our destiny. If the other side is the opposite of the real world, it is the reverse process, rot becomes new, old becomes young, broken becomes whole, complex becomes simple... and that is what many people want.
