First-class acting, third-class screenwriter

There is no doubt that the acting skills of the actors are first-class, but unfortunately the level of the screenwriter is really uncomplimentable.

The Navier-Stokes formula is indeed a millennial problem, and it has not been solved yet; Mary and her mother have no prototype in real life. The plot of this movie is completely fictitious.

Not to mention the various bugs and doubts pointed out by the bean friends in the discussion area. I think the biggest bug is actually, since at the end of the movie, my uncle easily found an education method for Mary that would not waste her talent, but also take into account her childhood physical and mental development, then why would there be such a big conflict with her grandmother? ?

Some might say that it was because grandmother was selfish and wanted Mary to follow her mother's business to overcome the millennium problem. But her mother is a genius of one in a billion, how can you guarantee that the child is also a genius, and has the ability and willingness to solve the millennium problem? Obviously this kind of design is completely to create conflict and conflict, which greatly reduces the film. For such a flawed fictional work, you really don't have to worry about the rationality of the details.

It is worth mentioning that my grandmother’s unwillingness to waste genius for science is not necessarily out of selfishness, but from another perspective, it is an admirable sense of mission and scientific spirit. The distinction between public and private, in the face of the huge topic of human destiny, indeed requires another layer of consideration. It is a huge mistake of the screenwriter to ignore this layer in order to create conflict and attract attention.

The cultivation of gifted children may not be the scope of the work, but it is indeed different from the cultivation of ordinary children, and has always been a hot topic. There is a good discussion of this in the non-fiction book , Ungifted . And how parents use their own expectations to control their children and lead to tragedy in education can be learned from the novel "Silent Confession" .
