Many people say that this movie is not good-looking, and the reasons given are that it is not in line with scientific settings, the behavior of the characters is not logical, and so on.
I think that's all right, but it doesn't get to the bottom of it.
The fundamental problem with this film is not a problem of setting, nor a problem of logic.
It's a script problem and a creative problem.
The rhythm of the movie is broken, and the action scenes are lacking.
In the first 30 minutes of the film, there are large sections of dialogue, always speaking lines, and always introducing the background.
In the opening 30 minutes, this movie doesn't even have an action scene ? With such a rhythm, the audience will definitely want to sleep watching.
And the action scenes in the back are not interesting. Shooting, da da da, nothing special, not like all kinds of weird chase scenes like Fast and Furious, nor like Marvel's super hero beating people to play cool. All in all, nothing special.
As long as the rhythm is good enough, popcorn movies can be made very well!
For example, Mission Impossible 4, there is an action at the beginning, there are various reversals, and then there is a prison break scene, the whole rhythm is great, and the surprises are constant.
Another example, the ace agent, there was a short gunfight at the beginning, the teammate died and then the conversation took a few minutes, and there was another action scene when the scene was changed. Lancelot rescued the hostages, and there were several waves of reversals. Great episodes one after the other. The rhythm is in place, without stopping.
And the rhythm of this movie is very slow, and the action scenes are not exciting, so the look and feel is stretched.
I can't even make a popcorn movie these days...
