On the road of life, we will be shaped by life, shaped into what others want to see. How to dress, when and what to do, what kind of people to associate with, even in this kind of life we will not feel happy. Schimidt is such an unhappy person. Suddenly, all the things that bound him in his life suddenly disappeared. After retirement, the company no longer needs him, and his wife suddenly died. Schimidt was forced to live a life he was not familiar with, but in the new life, he found the passion for life that he had gradually lost in the long road of life. At the end of the film, Schimidt came to the boundary that the western colonists crossed. A hundred years ago, the colonizers bravely crossed the boundary and went to a strange world to find new opportunities for survival.
