master of musicals

First of all, the story has a solid background. This drama is a biographical story of the founding father of the United States, Alexander Hamilton. Secondly, although this character has made great contributions to the construction of the United States, he is not as well known as several other characters of the same period, so his character image has more room to play.

A contemporary historical musical. Because Alexander himself was born out of wedlock and grew up on a small island in the Caribbean Sea, from humble beginnings, his mother died and his cousin committed suicide. Only he survived. The islanders raised funds to send him to mainland New York for education. It can be said that he belongs to the natural life, so his inner driving force is to keep improving, and finally he became the first finance minister of the founding of the United States, as the song sings: he is never satisfied. Especially in the era of class solidification, this kind of story of people at the bottom struggling to improve has always been loved by everyone.

His career line and emotional line are intertwined. Relying on his marriage, he successfully entered the upper-class social circle. He is a soul mate with the eldest daughter of the Schyler family. He married the second daughter and had children. The eldest daughter knew that her marriage had to bear family responsibilities, so she gave Alexander to her sister and lost her job in Alexandria. When blocked, he returned to New York from London just because of a letter, and after Alexander's derailment, he resolutely stood by his sister. After his son died in a duel, his wife chose to forgive him. And after his death, he continued his career, established orphanages, established financial institutions, and expanded his achievements. I have to say that he worked hard and was lucky. The two women have forbearance and sacrifice, and the complex and entangled emotional line is touching.

Outside the play, because the union protects all skin colors, the actors of the musical will have blacks and Latinos to play whites, which is not so immersive, but it is also something we need to understand.

The script, lyrics, and music are all so well written that I could sing along to the lyrics the first time I heard the melody. All the actors, the performances, the singing, the stage, and the many white-clad ensembles, the flashbacks in slow motion, are all so good and so subtle.

My favorite is the King of England. His songs are different from other actors' HIPPOP. He also has his own irony in it. It is a variation of the whole play, a comedian.

Regarding the explanation of this drama, Fei Yuanhong, a partner of Shanghai Cultural Plaza, once gave a very detailed explanation in the podcast APP read by Sanlianzhong. Those who are interested in musicals can refer to
