Phantom under the cave and the sun outside the cave

It's really one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I feel like I'm drawn to the muse as a hoop on a magnet while watching it. I have to quote a whole lot of Plato here, I think basically the essence of the movie is here:

"On the other hand, take the one who thinks that with respect to any written utterance only as an entertainment, no utterance deserves serious attention, whether in verse or prose or any unquestioned and To explain those... He believes that words at their best can only be used as reminders of knowledge. He also believes that only words for understanding and learning - those really written into the soul about what is right, noble and good - can is clear, perfect, and deserving of solemn attention: such words should be called his own legitimate heirs—first he has found them in his own soul, then his descendants and brothers naturally grow in other souls among others (as long as they deserve it); as for others, he refuses. Such a man, Phaedrus, is, as you say, what you and I aspire to be!" - Plato, Phaedrus 278a So what is the difference between imitation through words and imitation through images? They can all be phantoms in a cave, or they can be a way to see the sun (truth). The question is how to use Logos or images, a ladder that can go up and down. So what is the difference between an artist and a philosopher?

2019130 The one-star mediocre male protagonist did not answer the reporter's questions after the art exhibition. Hazy is also a kind of beauty. This movie explains everything clearly, but there is no aftertaste

The look is smooth and pleasing to the eye. But if you ask "Can you draw your own conclusions if there is no authoritative conclusion", "No Man's Work" will collapse like a card. Stealing Gerhard Richter (and Joseph Beuys) to confirm the ambiguous history-memory-image-authority point of view really betrays the director's crutch mentality. What supports the perspective of the work is vanity and shallow psychological analysis, not respect and reflection.

Never Look Away quotes

  • Kurt Barnert: You smoke?

Professor Carl Seeband: Sixty-three is the right age to start. The consequences will hardly catch up with me.

  • Kurt Barnert: Not random. Real. Coherent. Consistent. Only reality is consistent. Every reality is consistent. Everything that's true is beautiful. Let's suppose I say six numbers to you now. It's just stupid. Pointless. But if the six numbers are the winning lottery numbers, then they mean something. They have consistency, value, almost beauty. It's the same with the photographs. I want the truth.
