Comparative work: "Shawshank's Redemption" September 23, 1994

Release time: June 22, 1979

Type of work: plot / crime / prison break

Story background: United States

Contrast plot:

1. Yakara-Shawshank are the names of prisons.

2. Outstanding IQ-bankers and male protagonists are all superior in intelligence.

3. The male protagonists are all whites, and the good friends and mentors in prison are all blacks.

4. Raising mice-Raising crows and supporting small animals.

Although there are many similar plots between the two movies, there are different narratives between the two stories. "Escape from Yakara" directly describes the plot of the prison break at the time, which can make the audience feel that it is the first point of view. The feeling of "Shawshank's Redemption" is also very simple and rude, but "Shawshank's Redemption" shows more connotation and depth, enriching a lot of heart plots and becoming more memoir.

The ending of "Escape from Yakara" did not describe whether the three successfully escaped from prison or died coldly in the sea, leaving the audience with a whimsical ending.

"Shawshank's Redemption" ends with a successful escape from prison. The hope that the male protagonist has always cherished is finally realized on his own, giving the audience a sense of vigilance and punishment.

Both movies are classics, and they are worth watching and learning.
