(Not a film review, but the review is too long and short to put down)
The male protagonist uses a dream to create a world, in which he encounters a disaster, and is driven by Euromissile Crisis, so he goes to sleep with Maria in order to save him. In the end, he set fire to his home, left his sight, and the Son, who had been speechless, recovered his voice...
Filmed on a Swedish island, with Swedish actors performing in Swedish, the icy slow characters and the dark grand drama make people feel that this film is some kind of Chekhov and Ibsen hybrid, Tarkov The combination of Skye and Bergman... I still admire the high aesthetics of Tarkovsky's lenses, and I still feel bored with the discussion on Nietzsche's philosophy and Kant's philosophy at the level of the third-year philosophy class (the film also introduces how to say at the end. All a bit inexplicably oriental...). But I give this film five stars, because in the end, the male protagonist still set fire to his home, all of them, actively and decisively!
The memories in "Mirror", the entanglement and helplessness in "Stalker", and the pain and intoxication in "Nostalgia" have all been burned to ashes. Tarkovsky set a fire to burn his own spiritual world in his last film, then dedicated the film to his son "with hope and trust." I have no feelings for his religious complex, even a little disdain for his mysticism, but he finally bravely told the next generation and the world: it doesn't matter, these can be burned, I can sacrifice, I even have to sacrifice, the sapling Can grow up, children can find language! I admire that kind of courage. When that baby finally spoke up suddenly, I was really happy for him and for the world. "In the beginning, there was a way, why, Dad?" Good question! Maybe there is no Tao at all, maybe only yin and yang, maybe only quark, maybe only 42, in short, Dad has burned them all. Dad's sacrifice, their world's sacrifice, is what keeps you alive. They must sacrifice! Sacrifice is worthy of our tribute!
