Alfie is definitely the spokesperson for a considerable part of modern society who "live in the midst of thousands of flowers and never touch their clothes". The lines in the movie are so well designed, they are exactly the voice of that kind of man. I once had a boyfriend who was Alfie's type, and he said "I may not be a good man, but I'm a good man" during the breakup, which happened after a night stand between Alfie and his best friend's girlfriend in the movie He found common ground in the words "I never want to hurt anybody" to his friend. That's why Alfie's best friend said something to the point, "You never meant to hurt anybody, but you did". Indeed, a kind person does not say "I'm sorry" after hurting others, but should avoid hurting others as much as possible.
This movie finally made Alfie have to reflect on his life, but in real life, how many people like Alfie can finally torture themselves from the soul and be born again?
