some bugs

I really like this movie. It belongs to a psychological thriller, and it is not very particular about its sci-fi setting. It can be seen that Shyamalan doesn't care much about the logic of the setting. But some bugs are quite obvious.

1) The adults are obviously not getting old as fast as the children.

Probably because the cast of adults can't be changed.

2) Their hunger is not reflected.

If a few minutes equates to a few days, then they should feel the physical sensation of "haven't eaten in a few days" and "haven't slept in a few days" from time to time. But it didn't show up in the movie. Just passing the bus driver gave them a lot of food hastily. But even more food is not enough.

3) Children grow up quickly, but their IQ, vocabulary, and language skills have suddenly become great. It doesn't make sense at all.

4) How did the male protagonist learn to doi? And have a baby with Kayla?

5) If a knife is cut on the body in a few seconds, it will recover, but some scars will leave permanent traces, but there is no such thing in the movie.

Additions are welcome. But don't criticize the movie for these bugs. Originally, this movie is a fantasy setting. It is normal to have bugs, and this beach cannot exist in the world.

Old quotes

  • Kara Aged 15: [Kara and Trent sit in the sand as she clutches the remains of their newborn son and states off into the distance] We're not getting off this beach. We never had a prom. Or a graduation. There's so many memories we didn't have. It's not fair...

Trent Aged 15: [leaning against her] He needs to rest now.

[She looks at him, then away again, vacantly loosening her grip on the bundle and allowing him to take it]

  • Guy: We're we fighting about something?

    Prisca: We were.

Guy: Well... whatever it was, I'm not mad anymore. I can't remember - why did we want to leave this beach? So beautiful... It doesn't matter. It's funny, I forget the word... it's about my feelings for you.

    Prisca: I know.
