The story of two strangers redeeming each other. PHILIP, a rich man with endless money, is paralyzed and completely incapacitated. Dell, the father of a child, had just been released from prison penniless and was just looking for work for parole. Two people who should have nothing to do with each other meet.

P chose D at the beginning, I believe it was also the DNR mentioned in the film. P completely lost his expectations for life, so that the first thing he told this new life assistant was to let him die and not save him. Although D has a lot of criminal records, he is a person who should be said to be enthusiastic or optimistic. After spending a few days with P and listening to him tell his story, he began to be willing to take care of this person's life. Guilt for stealing a book? Gradually, D's optimism and cheerfulness also led to P, and his life began to be colorful.

Speaking of that pen pal Lily, I was very worried when I read it that she was a liar or had other plans. Fortunately, she is not. She is just an ordinary person. She has done a lot of homework and mental construction for this meeting, but she still cannot accept this reality. She is an ordinary person. Even I think she is better than many ordinary people, be honest, although sometimes it hurts people, it is not necessarily a bad thing in the long run.

A very touching movie, you can't let life defeat you.

The Upside quotes

  • Philip Lacasse: Dell, how is that Ideal app coming?

Dell Scott: You already said no to that.

Philip Lacasse: Yes, I know I said no. But I would definitely say yes right about now.

  • Dell Scott: You ready?

    Philip Lacasse: Yeah.

Dell Scott: All right, the safe word is gonna be... "Verdi."

Philip Lacasse: [chuckles] I'm supposed to drop "Verdi" into a sentence?

Dell Scott: Yes. Like, "I'm gonna go. You are Verdi ugly."

    [both chuckles]
