I heard about this movie when I started to walk PCT in 2017, and I saved it in the wanted to watch, and waited to watch it after the walk. I finally finished the last section of Washington State this summer, and the first thing I did when I came back was to watch this movie.
The conclusion is that the greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment.
1. The PCT runs 2,650 miles from the US-Mexico border to the US-Canada border. Judging from the movie, the starting point for the heroine is Tehachapi Pass, which has 566 miles of desert before it (not really desert, but a hot part), and the end point is Bridge of God, on the border of Oregon and Washington. , and there are more than 560 miles of Washington state left, so the heroine did not go all the way.
2. The trail angels who give rides along the road and take people on foot home to bathe and eat are really not malicious, and have never heard of a sexual assault incident. The funny thing is that the heroine in the movie maintains a vigilant attitude in the face of those who help him, but voluntarily plays ONS with the flyer.
3. In snowy years, trekking into the Sierra is fatal. Heavy snow will cover the original route and it is easy to get lost. Even if there is a road, it will slow down the speed of progress. The original journey of three or four days will take six or seven days, which means that it needs to carry more food and increase the weight of the backpack. In case of a blizzard, the new snow is loose and thick, making it even more difficult to walk. And even when the snow melts, all kinds of creeks and rivers become turbulent. In the snowy year of 2017, two Asian girls were swept away by the river in Sierra. So skipping the sierra first because of the weather is not a sneer, on the contrary, some experienced hikers will do it, saving time and avoiding unnecessary danger. And even if you enter the sierra, you will walk together, especially when crossing the river, you can take care of each other. Like the heroine who recklessly entered Sierra by herself, lost her way, and dissed other hikers when she was finished, it was really speechless.
4. It is normal to send packages along the road, but I have never heard of my ex-husband sending them or writing letters of encouragement. What's even more unbearable is that there is a bridge, the post office has already closed, and they have to reopen the door, and then stand on the commanding heights of morality and say, since the door has been opened for me, then take out the packages for the next three. In addition, this episode takes place near Mt. Hood, and generally chooses to supply supplies in the city, and there is no post office in the park.
5. I don’t know how many outfits the heroine has changed. Could it be that she lost it while walking? And every time the clothes are clean, the body is also, except for a few red marks on the backpack, there is no tanning and thinning. When I was in Sierra, I still wore a coat, could it fit into my backpack?
6. The most deadly thing is that the original intention of the female protagonist to walk the PCT does not represent the mentality of the current hikers. Along the way, I talked to many thru hikers who tried to walk the whole distance in one go, but I never heard that they were walking for healing and self-discovery. The impulse of most people is very simple, to complete a thing that can be proud of for a lifetime, to cross the United States and walk more than 4,000 kilometers at one time.
7. This original intention is very similar to many rides on the Sichuan-Tibet line. It is recommended to shoot a female-themed cycling Sichuan-Tibet line in China. The plot is well thought out. The heroine has too much work pressure. After breaking up with her boyfriend, she made countless appointments (forget about taking drugs, it is illegal), and then accidentally saw a book about riding the Sichuan-Tibet line, so she resigned to ride Sichuan-Tibet line (one of the four major things in life). At the beginning, I suffered many setbacks and rode slowly. Every time I went to the town in the dark at eight or nine o'clock to live in the Chase shop. Along the way, I also encountered food and drink from well-meaning people, thinking it was a "cheater". Finally got to Lulang or Linzhi, took a day off, accidentally met a local talent, bathed and changed clothes, and steamed chicken together, and then the camera slowly turned to Linzhi's peach blossom. Finally, when the heroine was about to arrive in Tibet and saw the Lhasa River, she suddenly became enlightened, freed from her ex-boyfriend who encouraged her to ride along the way, and was determined not to make random appointments.
The last thing I want to say is that PCT has magnificent scenery along the way and trail angels who selflessly help hikers, rather than escaping reality and finding oneself as described in the movie. This kind of movie that washes the soul, the negative score is thick.
